How baout a user purge of anyone with no posts. I mean the galleries on here have got to be wasting a ton of bandwith for people that merely contribute to my threads.

I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS, PUNK.http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=103227

But mine is better
5/9/2004 9:10:48 PM
even if you just wiped out those with no posts and no pictures, you'd still get rid of a LOT of fake names
5/10/2004 1:03:45 PM
I'm saying only leave those with posts, I could care less about fake names[Edited on May 10, 2004 at 1:31 PM. Reason : at least someone is using them]
5/10/2004 1:31:39 PM
no no no i'm talking like the stankinande type ones that never get validated e-mail address wise, and hence never activated.
5/10/2004 1:38:55 PM
aha, so thats what they are doing. I would think it would get them as well because they have no posts
5/10/2004 1:54:39 PM
I'm suprised no one has mentioned that we have over 15000 registered users as of today. I actually wonder how many of those would be lost if a wipe occured. I also think that the owners of the site should bring someone else in to help do a little bit more day-to-day maintenance, they seem to have moved on to other things in life while thie site is sliding downhill quick.

10k or so

bttt

but some of those people use teh wolf web for the school tool or the book exchange or for free online picture hosting. just because they don't post doesn't mean they don't use the site.
6/11/2004 8:48:32 AM
yeah but theys be eatin up teh bandwith so axe em
6/11/2004 12:09:00 PM
allow me to add some qualifications:1. no posts (includes those names never validated)AND2. not premie, ie, not paying for the photo-hosting/bandwidth hogging if applicablemmmmmm that's all i got OOOO wait I got another oneOR 3. not premie/have not posted for "x" number of days ... say, 90 days? (Anyone who care about their account who will be unable to get to it can go to Kinko's for 5 min and email a mod asking for mercy)[Edited on June 11, 2004 at 2:13 PM. Reason : 3!!!!]
6/11/2004 2:06:27 PM
why would they have to go to kinkos?and also, you can't take out people that have posts but haven't posted for x days because when you delete the name, you delete their content as well and then threads get messed up because there are comments missing.i can see deleting non-premie with no posts because those people are just leeching the photo bandwidth without contributing to the message board community.

I say get rid of the lurkers who don't have an account, and remotely link pics.REQUIRE REGISTRATION TO ACCESS THE SITE!!!!
6/12/2004 1:45:10 AM
No. No registration to access the site. thats just gay.
6/12/2004 12:28:20 PM
Required registration to access the photogallery.
6/12/2004 3:46:06 PM
that works. Most people lurk without an account before creating one. I mean why bother signing up if you dont know what the sites about.i'd like to see hot-linking for non-premie's die as well.

nice save, shawna.
9/5/2004 7:44:04 PM
hehe whats going to be funny is when certain tww'er graduate with generic unity id's like "absmith2" or something like that and ncsu reassigns that id to an incoming freshmen who wants to register for twwthey might have to pay $5 OR if theyre smart theyll click the forgot password link and steal old tww'ers account
9/7/2004 4:26:15 AM
hotmail and the like that offer free email accounts suspend your account if inactive for some period of time.maybe the same here, e.g. someone hasnt logged on in 30 days lock they shit.
9/7/2004 11:02:49 AM
^That's just stupid.
9/7/2004 2:08:23 PM
they don't reuse student ids... that's why popular ones have numbers at the end or whatnot...a 30 day log-in is impractical because of summer vacation, etc. when people might not have access... a 6 month would be more practical
