they come toward the headlights and when travelling at around 70mph you don't have much time to react.

damn, wtf is with all the deer lately. They seem to be the ones coming from the Ring 2 movie, attacking anyone in sight.

go on and claim your brakes or tires weren't good enough to compensate for your lack of ability to drive an extrememly manuverable sports car....if it was 5pm traffic that'd be a different story but obviously there was not that much traffic since you were going 70, sounds to me like you can't drive and weren't aware of your surroundings

this one could go either way

the fact that the damage is mostly along the driver's side leds me to believe that it probably could have been avoided

and also makes me wonder why this deer was in the median

what mile marker?

isnt the emergency lane change speed of a BMW well in the 60+ mph range?

Perhaps you don't understand.. there would be no need claim the brakes or tires weren't good enough because I never got a chance to even touch the brakes. And my brake and tire setup are perfectly fine in fact. Have any of you people ever been hit by a deer at night? You see it about a half second before it runs into you.

"bambi was standing out on I-40 westbound last night" That's a joke.. its not like there was a deer standing in the middle of the road and I just didn't avoid it; the thing ran into my car from the side, and seemed to go straight for my headlight.

I have yet to find a faster stock 1/4 mile time from another 328.. so I'm pretty used to driving this particular car well enough.

perhaps the 1/4 mile is why you hit that deer

I'm in the right most lane. The deer was running across from my right. I saw it with just enough time to tense up and just clipped its rear end with the driver's side front corner. Blood did end up on the drivers side doors as well.

Not sure about it being totalled yet. Trying to get an adjuster to come out Monday sometime if I can get away from work.

wtf people... when you hit a deer at night they usually come out of nowhere (not literally of course). Give this guy a break. It sounds like there just wasn't enough visibility to see the deer early enough. I had a deer run into me in a relatively well-lit neighborhood (driving my sister's car) at about 30mph... even with good lighting there are still shadows and all sorts of things that could prevent you from noticing in time.

And what does ability in a drag race have to do with avoiding a deer?

last time I was home I was comming around a sharp corner going about 60-65 and there was bambi standing there. I didnt think but just reacted, swerved, missed the deer, and corrected just enough to put me right back in my original lane. My bro was with me and looked at me and ask how the hell I did that, it was instinct. We went back the next day to look at the tire marks, shoulda taken a picture of them, you could almost tell where the deer was standing. Oh, and this was in a 98 civic dx 4 door, it would have been a breeze in a bimmer

you should have gotten the deer, assuming it died on the highway after you hit it, taken it to a local butcher, and got you some free Bambi Steaks, and Bambi Burgers

I've almost hit a deer before, it was walking along the edge of the right lane at the I-40/Wade Ave split underneath the bridge. The deer appeared from nowhere, and I had no time to react at 70mph. It was only inches from my TransAm when I passed it.

dude that sucks man. sorry to see your ride all bashed up. I have to say to most of you asshats on here that weren't at the scene of the accident you sure know alot about what happened and surmise his driving ability from words on a screen. Have you met this guy? Have you ridden in a car with him before? If not maybe you should keep the "oh you own a bmw so you could have avoided a turned over semi blocking both lanes of the highway at mach 2."comments to yourself.

^ Nah, I'd just hit him with my new gixxer at 140mph, split him in half, and keep on riding.

Yeah, actually looked like the mom.

So.. suggestions on where to put the car up for sale? I have an extra set of headlights, replacement driver's side fog light, and driver's side corner to include with the car as is.
