OK 106.1 plays a commercial saying its stupid to pay for radio and support free radio
two commercials later Bob the Blade is like "get Time Warner Cable blah blah blah"

I didn't feel like turning on my Sirius for the 4 minute ride this happened during. 12/7/2005 7:20:10 PM |

^^^What do you call stations that broadcast their signals over the air. This includes HD broadcasts. I don't remember having to pay for those... 12/7/2005 10:59:56 PM |

^^ You said free TV doesn't really exist. In England, you must have a license to operate a television, meaning that you have to pay to watch over the air broadcasts. We don't have such a license system here, so explain to me how there isn't any free TV.

tthe quality of free tv is to the quality of pay tv not as the quality of free radio is to the quality of pay radio
Basically the difference between free and pay tv is not equal to the difference between free and pay radio. 12/7/2005 11:36:21 PM |

Radio stations don't give a fuck what their advertisers are saying, as long as they're getting paid. 12/7/2005 11:56:36 PM |

what is "free" tv and "pay" tv you arent paying the tv station, they are feeding you advertisements
you pay a middle man that just sends you the shit from his source either way the station broadcasting is making money so i dont know why 106.1 is whining 12/7/2005 11:56:57 PM |

Its hard to listen to XM and FM at the same time. They cant sell local ads if everyone is listening to national broadcasts. durr12/8/2005 8:02:52 AM |

Ok, first and foremost. The main difference between "over the air" (free) TV and cable (not free) TV is that one has 5 channels with nothing worth watching and the other has 100 channels with nothing worth watching.
I had cable, then went back to the bunny ears. Every once and a while I am somewhere that has cable. I end up doing the same thing. Flipping, finding nothing that is decent, and settling for something in the end. I don't know why I just don't stop watching TV alltogether.

free radio does" |
I guess you could argue that over the air TV isn't free because you have to watch commercials but then you'd remember that over the air radio also has commercials.

lord, a'int that the truth!
Case in point, we (clearchannel) are currently running ad's for XM on our stations. Doesn't that strike anyone else as MONUMENTALLY stupid??12/9/2005 6:31:44 PM |

^ I was wondering if it was just advertising or a message the station was trying to send out. Stupid? Yes. Profitable? Yes. Considering CC has 1400+ radio stations across the country, I'd say they can get away with it. 12/9/2005 6:39:12 PM |
