"Air America Radio Files for Chapter 11
Oct 13 11:05 AM US/Eastern

By SETH SUTEL
AP Business Writer

NEW YORK - Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network that features the comedian Al Franken, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told The AP.

The network had denied rumors just a month ago that it would file for bankruptcy. On Friday, Air America spokeswoman Jaime Horn told The Associated Press that the filing became necessary only recently after negotiations with a creditor from the company's early days broke down.

The network will stay on the air while it resolves issues with its creditors, Horn said. In addition to Franken, the network also features shows from liberal talk show host Randi Rhodes and Jerry Springer.

Horn declined to name the creditor with which talks had reached a logjam. The company will operate in the interim with funding from its current investor group.

Air America also said Friday it had named Scott Elberg as its new CEO. Elberg, a former general manager of the radio station WLIB in New York, has been with the network since May of last year.

The filing marked the latest turbulence at the liberal talk radio network, which went on the air two years ago. This April, Danny Goldberg stepped down as CEO and was replaced by an interim chief executive from a management consulting firm.

"Nobody likes filing for bankruptcy," Elberg said in a statement. "However, this move will enable us to concentrate on informing and entertaining our audience during the coming months.""

thats awesome.

It really comes down to the hate they thier hosts spew constantly. No one wants to hear it. As much as liberals wont admit it, people like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are positive...they are optomistic...they are entertaining...and they present ideas...

Thats not the case with AA....thier hosts were all just Bush haters all the time...i mean...people dont want to hear it

Have you ever actually, you know, listened to Franken's show? Because I don't know that anything you've said actually applies to it.

Now the woman that follow him...there you might have a gripe.

Quote :
"As much as liberals wont admit it, people like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are positive..."

Positive is an interesting choice of words. Sure they're positive about the Bush administration and the fine job they're doing, but you can't seriously be telling me that their tone towards the left is any more positive than Air America's tone towards the right. If you are seriously telling me that, allow me to go ahead and dismiss everything that you've ever said as utter bullshit.

You really think that the things people on Air America(including the crazy broad that follows Franken, the Left's nutcase answer to Ann Coulter) are that much more negative than what was being said about Clinton on Limbaugh's program? Honestly? Or more recently, do you think that anything said about Cheney is worse than what Sean Hannity has to say about Ted Kennedy? C'mon...really?

Quote :
"they are optomistic..."

You're right. I never heard either of them assert that the terrorists would kill us all if the Democrats got any kind of power. They're quite optimistic.

Quote :
"they are entertaining..."

Let's not fight on this one. I mean, some people think shows like Jackass are entertaining. Different strokes and all that...

Quote :
"and they present ideas..."

Again, have you listened to Franken's show? Not only does he present ideas, he brings on guests who have ideas and then they talk about how to realistically make those things happen.

I suppose that by "ideas" you mean "bitching and whining about the liberal media," "assaulting the patriotism of anyone who disagrees with them," or "coining winning words like 'feminazi.'" You're right. THOSE ideas really show America what's up...

You want to know why Air America is bankrupt? A national-scale talk radio network is risky regardless of content, but when you figure in that every show on it is shooting for the same audience...well you're fucked. That one audience is only going to listen to so many hours of programming before they need to do something else.

Conservatives are less intelligent. Less intelligent people are easier amused. This is why conservatives blowhards are still making money. They could entertain my fucking dog.

Maybe a little defensive, but mostly disappointed. I had high hopes for Air America, and ended up hating almost all of their programming. Come to think, that might be the other problem with Air America's money-making...their target audience doesn't care for them either.

Still, I'm wondering if you can be serious about the assertions you made about Hannity and Limbaugh vs. Air America's content.

Easier is an adverb, you fucking idiot. It describes HOW republitards ARE AMUSED.

THIS IS CALLED A "PASSIVE VOICE". I USED PASSIVE VOICE IN THIS SITUATION BECAUSE I LIKE HOW IT CONVEYS THE PASSIVE APE-LIKE AMUSEMENT REPUBLITARDS GET FROM THEIR TEEVEE BOX WHEN THEY WATCH SHEP SMITH SAY "BLOWJOB".

"How would you say republicans entertain themselves compared to Democrats?"

"I find that they are easier entertained, to be honest, based on what I've seen from Fox News."
"I find that they are more easily entertained..."

They both work and they are both common vernacular.

The first one is five less letters.

you can post that all you want, but everyone knows who votes primarily democrat...

with the exception of hollywood and other left wing high society folk, and college STUDENTS most people that vote democrat are poor and uneducated (inluding many uneducated poor "southern democrats")

if it wasn't for the poor and uneducated vote democrats wouldn't win much at all

If people can't understand the passive voice and they are intelligent enough to understand it, they should probably learn it at some point. The point is that good writing is concise, to the point, and not full of unnecessary words. Claiming I'm using poor grammar when I'm in fact choosing to not use an unnecessary word is just fucking stupid.

No... it's Maslov's Hierarchy of needs. Level four is the need for success, essentially. Saying you're not interested in becoming more intelligent at the cost of your success makes me think you're not interested in self-actualization. It's not an insult or anything, most people are like this. I probably am, too.

If "easy" can be used as an adverb, I see no reason why "easier" can't be used the same way.

You keep digging these holes, finding your way out, and then start digging new holes.

adv.

1. Without haste or agitation: Relax and take it easy for a while.
2. With little effort; easily: success that came too easy.
3. In a restrained or moderate manner: Go easy on the butter.
4. Without much hardship or cost: got off easy with only a small fine.
