Man, I hated that game, but it's the only Mario Bros that I didn't beat as a kid.

yeah san andreas has gone cold twice for me. i played each city thoroughly getting everything possible and completing every side mission. finished the the first city, dropped it for a year. started playing last fall and played daily for months and finished up the second city and moved to las venturas. I finished the bank robbing mission and haven't played it since probably march. I think the only reason i haven't played any games is b/c none of my systems are hooked up and i'm lazy to do so.

I never finished the final series of Formula 1 races on Gran Turismo 4. Maybe one day I'll get around to figuring out how to tune the cars for each track and get around to finishing that game.

Then again, I haven't bothered to turn on my PS2 in quite some time.

Yeah, it's the only one I never beat. It always came down to luck by the time you get to the very end. You just run and hope, so I never bothered trying over and over until I got it.

Old, old school games didn't typically have endings. You just played them until you died or until you got bored. Beating your previous point score was pretty much all you had. Then the games started to have endings but some of them were insanely difficult. Now games are too easy, you always beat them. Beating a game is just something that everyone has come to expect.

I loved to try to play hackysack on California games when i was in kindergarten because my then college aged aunt had just picked up playing it in real life. Man was that a long time ago!

RC pro-am - I remember getting to level 22, how many damn levels were there? The computer cars just kept getting faster and faster.

The game genie ruined mario bro's 3. That was when I learned cheating on games wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

I totally agree

there's really no sense of accomplishment anymore

especially since games are designed with trilogies in mind now

They have just gone to a different difficulty setting scheme. Giving a player 4 difficulty options is a marketing scheme of brilliance. If the average newb can beat most of teh games, they will buy more and more because of it where as if you are playing on just one or two difficulty settings, you are more likely to get frustrated

you try to beat Guitar Hero III on Expert
or
Call of Duty 4 on veteran

if you want to just play games from the original Nintendo, and don't know anything about roms... I found this site after the mention of R.C.Pro-Am.... http://www.nintendo8.com/

You will see a list of categories running across the page much in the same manner as this website. Don't waste too many hours reminiscing....

Qbert FTW!!!

How the hell did people not beat Mario Bros 1, 2, or 3? With the warps, all of the games are easily beatable in less than an hour (30 min for Mario 2).

Proud to say I recently checked punch-out off the list.

I don't think RC Pro-am had an ending or did it?

Anyone else ever beat Karnov? That game was hard as shit!

Metroid, TMNT, Ghosts n' Goblins (NES, I beat the arcade game back when I was a kid) are at the top of my list
