I really hate cyclists who feel like they are special enough to make me move over, endangering other cars on the road

how do you know how they feel?

and this was a race, they had the road designated but apparently not secured.

i've been surprised...no one's been an ass since i started scooting to work...people will pass sometimes, but they use signals and give me a wide berth behind, alongside, and in front

also, i've come to realize that gunning it at stoplights when you're in a car really doesn't get you anywhere faster...every day so far, people will pass me, and we'll all end up at the same place at the same time (they just end up waiting longer than i do)

I think letting the crowd take care of the guy would be the best option. Pity the cops stopped it.

Aw, geez. He had to have passed through some road blocks or something, because usually for races they have cops blocking off and re-routing traffic. (At least, this was my previous experience with road races.)
That's horrible, man. At least help was available quickly.

lemme mention this:

i have ZERO problem sharing the road with bikers...if its a 4 lane road, and they're all in the right lane, i'll happily drive in the left lane...i'll share the road all day

HOWEVER

if you want to truly share the road, you cant just run red lights and do shit that its illegal for cars to do, and you better not take up more than 1 lane

^exactly. Cyclists do that shit in myers park all the time. Run that red light right before Queens College.

Although that's only because we live in the south. Anywhere else in the world (and many other large cities), the cars move over for the bikes.

I was amazed that in Holland the bike lanes were larger than the car lanes. So the bikes had much more space than the cars. In many places you'd have 2 lanes for bikes, but only a single lane for cars. And the bike lanes weren't small like they are here, large enough for a few bikes to ride side by side. Course no one wore helmets there either.

-oh did anyone see that Top Gear where they raced a bike, a car, public transit, and a boat from the west side of london to the east side and the bike won?

Oh i just remembered there was a letter to the editor in the Charlotte observer complaining about cyclists running red lights in Myers park. They need to follow the same rules. Oh and many cyclists like to pass a line of cars on the right at a stop light and this is not legal either.

my girlfriend saw some biker all busted up on strickland road yesterday while we were on the phone.

she asked if i thought she should stop to help (shes an RN) i told her to drive on past, its not worth the AIDS or some shit. people shouldnt ride bikes on roads without shoulders

and fuck all that bullshit about them having the same rights as cars. when bikers can keep up with the flow of traffic then they should have the same rights.

^^haha wow that is the most backwards southern thing i've heard in a while. So i assume you've never been out of the country or to the east? That viewpoint is pretty much strictly southern US.

^hey i'm not blaming the south i'm just stating how things are in other places. The south has a very poorly developed bike and public transportation system. I tell people i'm from North Carolina when i travel and that's one of the biggest things i hear comments about. "man you can't get anywhere by bike or public transit down there can you?". I still love the south and i love North Carolina, but that doesn't mean i can't state some things that ARE wrong about it.

V - haha i was simply asking that because what he said was almost the opposite viewpoint of the rest of the world.
