How do you turn off the feature where it blocks sites you can go to? I want to go to legitimate download sites and Trend Micro says no?!

I'm assuming you're on windows...

1. open up services.msc (run dialog or search bar)
2. look for 'OfficeScan NT Proxy Service'
3. right click > properties
4. set 'Startup type' to 'Disabled'

As soon as it blocked me from being able to get on demonoid, I ditched it. Symantec Corporate was a lot better.

Yep, the first time that happened, and help desk confirmed that there wasn't shit I could do to get to the site in question (which was actually some kind of false positive on the Steam Community at that point) I made sure to express my disgust with ITD and let them know that their shit was getting permanently removed.

You can still visit the sites with TrendMicro installed. Just right-click on the icon in the task bar, select Unload OfficeScan, wait a minute or so, and surf your site. You just have to remember to restart the antivirus when you're done.

So there is something you can do, but it is annoying and counter productive to their overbearing efforts to keep people virus free.

And moving to TrendMicro was a stupid decision. I wonder who got the kick-back for that decision?

Well yes, I suppose if you turn off the antivirus, the antivirus functions would stop working. A solution that leaves your computer exposed and vulnerable is not a solution.
