I may be selling a bunch of books to make space. Is anyone here interested in buying? I'll try to put a list together, most of it is from the past year.

I wonder if someone new takes up the cap outfit, if they will start from such an unexpected background.

I half expect spiderman to get over his new emo-black outfit and take up the cap america outfit when he's ready to go back to his red/blue, since they were teamed up as avengers and on the same side of the civil war. If the fantastic four can be thing, human torch, black panther, and storm, then anything is possible.

I'm possibly thinking Punisher takes up the role as Captain America. Sounds crazy but he had penis envy in Civil War 4 and grabbed the mask in Civil War #7.

^ Hhaa, that'd be hott. But he was just carrying it as a sign of respect. Plus, he knows that he would never disrespect the idea of "Captain America" by donning it.

The most recent amazing spiderman #539 was really good. It was “Back in Black,” Part 1. JMS did it, and having been a babylon 5 fan in the past, that made it slightly more interesting. But some of the kingpin's statements & parker's attitudes made it a great comic. I think I'll probably collect atleast the next few issues of amazing spiderman.

Thats just what I think. But considering Cap is in his largest revival in a long time, them killing him off seems blasphemous. He'll come back really soon. His series is one of the best selling in Marvel and they're RIGHT IN THE FUCKING MIDDLE OF A BIG ARC. Hes not dead. I think its bullshit they they need to resort to him "dying" to stir up more sales.

They had the issues where cap dies at the store in NorthGate mall in Durham so I got it today, and the new fantastic four stuff with storm & black panther looked pretty cool.

They have the student discout there too like at there other stores which is nice.

He said they are making alot of money there too. Like 6 times what either of the other ultimate comic stores make in a day. I guess comic shops have always had trouble getting started in a mall b/c its so expensive, but being a chain they were able to afford it and its working out great.

Also the timing is working out nicely too. Cap making it on CNN & other big news networks, and the up coming marvel movies like FF & spiderman for which they will have a guy in a spiderman costume making appearances at the theater in northgate mall & comic shop. It was kinda funny/cute hearing a little kid who heard about spiderman's appearance saying he hopes green goblin shows up so they can fight in front of the store.

I don’t know about superman, but I was under the impression that the spiderman movies have done really well financially. And all the marvel movies, the free comic nationwide comic book day 1 month from today (may 5th), the little stunts like having spiderman appearances, and the expansion of local comic book chains make me think that there is money to be made.

---

On a side note. Whats the comic shop situation in most people's hometowns? I know some of you will be going home for the summer. And while the triangle is littered with them, whats it like in the rest of your hometowns?

Don't forget that Batman defeated Captain America in one of the crossovers--and Batman owned the shit out of Punisher in another one. So, I don't think Punisher is the best choice to "replace" Captain America.

Marvel should just do what we all know they are going to do: bring back Captain America. BTW, I know these battles are usually considered to be outside the continuity, but the fights are part of my continuity of each character.

^ I think that crossover you're talking about is the DC. v. Marvel thing which in turn spawned the Amalgam thing. I think readers voted on who should win. I could be wrong.

Ok, found the info:

Quote :
"Of the eleven primary battles, the outcome of five fights are determined through fan votes while the remaining six are decided by various team of writers and artists participating in writing the entire event, with each universe winning three of these fights."

Quote :
" Marvel wins three of the five open to vote matches (DC's Superman and Batman win their matches, whereas Marvel's Spider-Man, Storm, and Wolverine win theirs), this proved a prescient move. The final outcome is a 6–5 Marvel "victory". After Batman defeats Captain America, it is revealed that the Amalgam universe would be used to settle the dispute, making the Marvel victory an ambiguous one."

So with that said, I think the "win" Batman had doenst really count for me. I love them both so I'd hate to have to have one of them 'win'.

^ You sort of made some of my points for me. First, I posted that it is my continuity I am writing about, but I think a number of others likely share my view.

Second, once you read some of these crossover and "versus" things, they are hard to forget. For example, Batman has taken down the Hulk, Aliens, Predators, Hawkman, avoided Darkseid's Omega Beams, and Batman's contingency plans took out the entire Justice League. So, it's no big surprise that Batman defeated Captain America and beat the shit out of Punisher--power perceived is power achieved. Clearly, the fans--based on their votes in the crossover at issue--perceive Batman's power.

Third, I brought this up because of problems that I have with the continuity, but also because of the power problem with Captain America. We sure as hell don't need to make him even less powerful by letting Punisher or the like take over the suit. Captain America--who many view as a metaphorical representation of America itself--should be resurrected as a more powerful being than ever.

In any event, we are probably not even really disagreeing here. I love them both, too--but I'll pick Batman, for example, over Captain America any day of the week.

3. Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America #2 – Loeb and McDaniels present the reaction of not only the New Avengers, but the Mighty Avengers as well.

4. Fantastic Four #545 – Two words… SILVER… really, you don’t know what the other word is? Not even a guess? Okay, it’s… SURFER!

5. Justice #11 – The penultimate issue features Hal Jordan vs. Sinestro.

6. 52 week 51 – Two penultimate issues in the same week… Uh, lets see Animal Man, Lobo and some normal people with the names Bruce, Clark, & Diana?

7. Wonder Woman #8 and Amazons Attack #1 – Like peanut butter and jelly, these two just go together, don’t buy one with out the other or you’ll be tonguing the roof of you mouth all day.

11. Star Trek: Klingons #1 – Mostly cause there is this really cool version in the Klingon Language. I have no idea what it says, but I bet Anthony Burgess does.

12. New Avengers Illuminati: Secret History – For everyone who missed out on issue one and two, BUY THIS.

13. Teen Titans Go #42 – Morgan says Stark Raven Mad is where it is at for Kids this week.

14. Action Comics #848 – Donner and John will return later, but for now check out what happens when Supes must take a world tour to stop an incredible power. New Storyline folks.

15. Batman Confidential #5 – Will some one please tell me if this is a mini-series, ongoing or what…

16. Crossing Midnight #6 – New storyline sees Toshi begin her service to Lord Aratsu.

17. Dark Tower #1 2nd printing – Because it has a really cool cover!

18. Amazing Spider-Man #529 2nd printing – See no. 17.

19. Heroes for Hire #9 - The Heroes are offered a mark that will make them rich, but it comes with conditions... 1) They have to work with the treacherous Paladin, 2) They have to travel to the Savage Land, and 3) They're hunting a Tyrannosaurus Rex!

20. X-Men First Class #8 – So is this the last issue, will the next issue be number one or number nine?"

It’s not the venom suite, just designed to look like it to send a message, and while I know its in part just to boost sales for the movie coming out, the whole dark spiderman making the conscious decision to stop pulling his punches makes it easier to swallow.

With the whole civil war thing he revealed his identity and registered w/ iron mans side, but turned on them and is an outlaw on cap americans side (who is now dead). Then issue 539 opens with an old enemy, kingpin, having aunt may shot (he plans to try to kill both MJ & AM). He's now kind of spidermans strength combined with punisher's philosophy on the sacredness of life.

Thats a bit of a strech. Not too many people have the Punishers philosophy. All he pretty much says/does in the latest issue is beat the shit out of people and breaks a dudes hand to extract information. Not quite as killer as Punisher

I think it may be the alternate cover that comes out today and the new issue comes out the 2nd week of may.

^But the impression I got is he is willing to kill now to get what he wants, so far people have just given what he wants before its made it that far.
