holy shit, i just drove home in this shit (here in WS). worst rain/wind i've ever seen, i was nearly driving blind. probably went 30mph down I40 and no one came up in front or behind me. shit was scary as hell too, lights flashing all around me

i bet, i stuck up my phone in the air outside the window of my car on i40 and took about 5 quick snaps for photos and managed to get 2 of them with huge bolts of lightning filling up the sky

Tornado here at PTI! The tower called it because from where I was at at the surface I couldn't see anything through the rain. It went from 10kts wind to 54kts and 9 miles visibility to less than 1/4 mile instantaniously. That was indescribably awesome. It seems the reported tornado was about 1/4 mile from here and it was also picked up by radar. o-m-g. I have not had that much fun since Fran.

Pretty much what that shows is how winds went from breezy to omfg potentially tornadic. In retrospect I am not sure why it went out with only light and moderate rain. My guess would be that ASOS hadn't caught up yet because it is 800 years old and takes forever to update but rest assured subsequent observations had heavy rain.

I have been watching the local news all night and they have shown some awesome shots of trees down near here and reports of planes being blown around the airport including one that was pushed through the perimeter fence.

^^^that's how it always is. the worst stuff just appears out of nowhere. like, tornadoes pop up just at the edge of a storm. it might be sprinking a little, or even partly sunny when those fuckers come raging around. it has something to do with the temp or energy in the leading edge of the cell, but iz doesn't recolectin ma mea101 so gud.
