Even if they don't have it at their house, they can just go to the local public library and post on tww to their heart's content.
I grew up in welfare land (not my family, but lots of my friends families.) Most of the people I know who stayed on welfare a long time either had addiction problems resulting in constant job turnover or were just lacking in "life management skills." I mean, they'd decide to buy a new waterbed or something, but then not have money when the kids outgrew their shoes. Their kitchens were often empty of anything but soda and beer, so they'd order pizza or go out for fast food for dinner every night. They'd decide not to make their car payments and get it snatched by the repo man. Of course I sometimes thought they were totally cool parents when I was a kid because they pretty much let their kids do whatever, but even then I knew that they were basically losers. I'm not talking about the get back on your feet people who are really helped by welfare; I'm talking about the "lifers."

Yeah, "lifers" don't need a handout. They need a swift kick in the ass everytime they do something really stupid. 12/29/2005 12:36:36 AM |
