2/9/2006 8:46:27 PM

2/9/2006 9:11:22 PM

Two own goals for the Canes.*sigh*4-3 TBL.
2/9/2006 9:37:44 PM
damnit. canes drop one 5-3.We have struggled against the bolts this year. Good game though
2/9/2006 9:54:37 PM
No big deal. We had two bad bounces and Grahame played out of his mind. Team played an excellent game, just couldn't pot the equalizer.[Edited on February 9, 2006 at 10:05 PM. Reason : d]

Detroit moved into first in the league tonight, although we do have a game in hand on them.

go space man go
2/10/2006 12:06:55 AM
man i was hoping ward injured himself on some of those blocked shots...he blows and is by the far the worst on the team

^ GTFO, go learn something about hockey, then come back.Ward is not Scott Stevens and he's not Bobby Orr. With that said, he's an extremely solid positional defenseman with a physical edge, and he isn't afraid to pinch or join the rush when it's feasible. Before the season, he was a question mark with the new rules. As the season started, it became clear that Ward had stepped up his game to the level of a few years ago. If he wasn't any good, he wouldn't get more than 18 minutes a night. We've got nine defensemen, and Ward is top three in TOI.It's also worth pointing out that he potted a screamer (OMF WALLINJR.) on the fly TWENTY-THREE SECONDS into the game.[Edited on February 10, 2006 at 12:49 AM. 2/10/2006 12:28:27 AM
Seriously. Ward is an awesome player and one of the best defenceman we got.
2/10/2006 12:43:55 AM
^^^ Not to mention he made that shot with his eyes closed

If anyone posted this already, then a "whoops" is in order for me In other hockey news, Jose Theodore tested positive for a banned substance...anabolic steroids? Nope! PROPECIA! http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=154231&hubname=nhlSounds like a new sponsorship is in the works Nothing to do with the 'Canes, but I thought a good laugh was in order [Edited on February 10, 2006 at 10:03 AM. If you actually watched the game last night, we dominated pretty much every part of the game. We just couldnt get past their back up keeper. We played solid defense and had really good offensive possessions. If it werent for two of there horrible shots bouncing off our players we'd be fine. GO CANES!

I NEVER EVER thought an athelete would take propecia. propecia inhibits the conversion of testosterone to DHT. it really fucks up an essential anabolic hormone.

Went to the morning skate today, which was a lot of fun. Vasicek was skating.
2/10/2006 2:31:49 PM
Why do NHL teams skate on game day?Why not preserve 100% of your energy?I mean fuck, especially with how much NHL teams play.
2/10/2006 2:32:47 PM
Well, it's an optional I believe, short, and very laid back. Ladd, Commodore, LaRose, Adams, Hedican, Ward, Babchuk, and Vasicek are the only ones that I can recall being out there this morning.

what a way to end the 1st periodbuzzer beating goal by staal
2/10/2006 7:41:05 PM
down 4-2barring a bigtime comeback, the canes will have dropped 3 of their last 4 after inserting weight into the lineup
2/10/2006 9:02:31 PM
the canes are going to lose in the first rdunless they shore up their defensmen positions via trade
2/10/2006 9:04:58 PM
^i think that may be stretching itbut they are not gonna beat the sens playing like this!
2/10/2006 9:05:54 PM
weight = horrible addition....i hated it then and always will
2/10/2006 9:12:06 PM
4-3, staal with his second goaltwo minutes to goLETS GO CANES!
2/10/2006 9:26:41 PM
2/10/2006 9:30:43 PM
they need to acquire a defensman like Denis Gauthier from phoenix or Sean Hill from florida
2/10/2006 9:35:20 PM
cam ward needs to improve his side to side movement. it seems like most of the goals he gives up are ones where he can't get across the crease very quick.
2/10/2006 9:40:41 PM
the scouts are beginning to say that they dont think ward will be a successful starter in the nhl
2/10/2006 9:45:00 PM
We had a bunch of blown opportunities in this game. I think I saw twice where our players missed a wide open net. Guess the puck just wasn't bouncing our way tonight. On a side note, Irbe was just on TV leading the Latvian Olympic team in the opening ceremonies.
2/10/2006 10:27:15 PM
i think Ward will... hes just missing a little something that i saw in him earlier this year.
2/10/2006 10:30:23 PM
Holy fucking shit.^^^^^ Babchuk can be that guy, but he's going to have to earn his spot.^^^^ No idea what spurred this comment, but if it's the goal tonight that Ward didn't get to laterally, there wasn't much he could do. It took a fucking crazy-ass bounce off a body that threw the timing all off. In general, Cam is very solid laterally. He makes up what he lacks in Gerber-style slinkyness by moving well side-to-side when down. He also seals up very well on the whole (the Crosby goal tonight was icky).^^^ I don't know what "scouts" you're talking about, but no one who knows anything is going to judge a GOALTENDER on half a season of NHL backup duty, especially at 22 years of age. Ward dominated the WHL in his day and had a fantastic first professional season in 04-05.As for this game, the Canes were flat as flat could be and they still got three by Caron, who was having a good night seeing the puck, albeit with a few lapses in close. No worries over here.[Edited on February 10, 2006 at 10:31 PM. Reason : g]

Weight is not the problem. Aaron Ward is the problem. He is repsonsible for blowing the last two games. For example, in the Tampa he was responsible for two goals. He deflected in one and passed another and took a un necessary tripping penalty to set up a 5 on 3. hes worthlessWARD IS WORTHLESS!!
2/11/2006 12:00:43 AM
ward is all the grit your pathetic D corps has
2/11/2006 12:01:59 AM
more grit than commodore is not necessary in the new nhl..ward is a pussy and hasnt fought for as long as I rememember A. WARD IS WORTHLESS
2/11/2006 12:37:21 AM
please, make us all happy, and shut the fuck up. As others have said, Ward has probably been one of our top 3 d-men all year long, so please... go learn hockey, then come back and add your thoughts.
2/11/2006 12:40:18 AM
^^^^ are you fucking kidding me? A. Wards "Deflection" goal that you're talking about - he was standing in front of the net playing the man in front, like he's supposed to and a guy took a shot from the top of the slot, it hit his shoulder/chest and redirected in - what is he supposed to do? That was not him at allB. Wards "unneccesary" tripping penalty - If my memory serves me correctly, the guy crossed into the zone, along the or close to the boards and Ward was there, and didn't touch him and if he did in fact touch him - he did not impede his progress or trip him in any such way. It was a bullshit penalty by all aspects of the word. Get a clue dude.[Edited on February 11, 2006 at 12:51 AM. Reason : g]
