As a soon to be doctor, the term broken foot kind of annoys me. Not including the sesamoids, there are 26 bones in the foot. Saying a person has a broken foot could be very limiting and serious, or just result in some mild pain. It seems like a lot of the time basketball players fracture their 5th metatarsal.

Here is what the medical community refers to as a basketball foot.

As a physician myself, I'm not annoyed in the slightest with the term broken foot. Every day I simplify specialized medical jargon down to make it understandable to patients. Considering that after a 5-6 year ortho residency, most who want to deal with "broken feet" then do an additional year in a foot and ankle fellowship, how can you expect any non-physician to really tell the difference? Do you really expect a news article or internet post to give you the detail presented on a radiology report? It just all reeks of med school elitism to me.

Well even before I went to school, I as a sports fan still didn't like the term broken foot. Tell me at least what bone is broken in my favorite player's foot so I know how serious it is based on what I've seen with other player's.

Not a sandy vagina, and I don't think I'm better than anyone just because of my profession. I came from a pretty poor neighborhood fwiw. I guess I have just always been one for clear descriptions. Like someone the other day had me meet up with an attending I had never met, and all they initially told me was that he was shorter than me. So I asked them if he was old or young looking, and what color his hair was. Based on that extra info I was able to easily find him in a room full of docs. Some sports journalists have gotten pretty good at providing information on injuries like if the player sustained a Lisfranc fracture or which ligaments in the knee were torn. Sports medicine truly interests me more as an fan than a doctor.

After being on this site for the past 10 years I've never been nothing but nice to everyone, with maybe some good natured ribbing here and there. I know I have the tendency to ramble about stupid shit, and if people wanna dislike me for that then fine. I'd rather be disliked for rambling then for being an asshole.

Now to get this thread back onto recruiting, I've heard Theo Pinson might visit in February. It would be a huge get to have him along with the Martin twins in order to shore up the wings. If Warren keeps playing like he is he could be gone by next year.
