Changed my clutch. figured out I've probably been driving without taillights for a couple weeks (my gauge cluster lights aren't working either except for the digital spedo)gotta tackle that todayneed to figure out what this god awful rattle is

have a Whiteline 22mm rear anti-sway bar with Racing Line end-links waiting to install.just purchased a Racing Performance Works header for my lancerwho the heck knows when that is going to get here (from Oz)After that, will save up to get the rest of the piping.
11/12/2013 10:18:50 PM
Yeah so I wrecked my car on Monday. Spun at South Bend @ VIR going about 70 mph and hit a tire wall ass end first.Might be totaled. Pics to come
11/13/2013 8:45:51 AM
I'm assuming insurance doesn't cover that?
11/13/2013 8:50:50 AM
^most likely not. Erie (mine) does not cover any vehicle damage associated with competition.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5hVMFjDAA8&feature=player_detailpage#t=110[Edited on November 13, 2013 at 9:19 AM. Reason : -]

^^^ The Subaru?Umm, the insurance companies I've looked into in the past will pay the claim, but they'll also drop you and invite you to not be their customer anymore.
11/13/2013 9:23:41 AM
^you're on FB all the time. Surprised you haven't seen the few pics I posted.I took out a track day policy with Lockton Affinity for $30,850. I'm definitely covered. Just a question now of whether or not the car is totaled really. I destroyed the:-rear bumper cover-rear trunk lid-rear unit body trunk area is pushed in-rear quarter panel, C&A pillar piece-passenger door-right side view mirror-fire damage to both front fenders-all plastic panels under the car and lower section of engine bay destroyed by fire-passenger side curtain airbag deployed-minor interior smoke damageCar drives fine and I don't think there's any suspension damage but the alignment is way off and there's a slight vibration. I can't post pics from work but will later.
11/13/2013 9:37:13 AM
^just testing the differential for stress fractures? glad you're OK, though.
11/13/2013 10:00:17 AM
^^ Damn man, hate to hear that but glad you're okay (and insured). Do you think cold tires were a factor, or was it partway through the session? I'm pondering trying to hit Road Atlanta or CMP in December, but cold weather isn't fun. I'm planning on doing a Lemons race at Barber in February, and that'll be cold too...Did you have an instructor with you at the time? What was the fire from? Exhaust contact with grass?
11/13/2013 10:16:21 AM
^^thanks.^Well I was just using the OEM Michelin Primacy tires...which probably wasn't a great idea. I crashed on my 3rd lap of the 2nd session. Ambient air temp was around 50-55 at that point I think. Grass collected inbetween my wheel spokes and made contact with the brake rotors to cause the fire. Not surprising since my rotors were running close to 600°F when I took temp readings after my first session. The exhaust may have caused a fire as well, but hard to say.Now time to play the "what car do I get if this car is totaled" game.[Edited on November 13, 2013 at 10:42 AM. Reason : and yes to instructor]
11/13/2013 10:41:46 AM
Obviously you need a new wrx Same engine already boosted and floor it to fix the rear end stepping out capability. (Lol)Ps my money is on totaledPs I too and glad you are ok.Tkewheels and tkesplat just don't have a good ring.[Edited on November 13, 2013 at 11:23 AM. Reason : .]
11/13/2013 11:22:44 AM
Thanks man. Honestly I think I'm better off if this is totaled. My brother was at the event with his bone stock 335i and he was considerably faster than me, even trapping around 15 mph faster on both straights. And this was his first HPDE.Fuck this shit, time for a 335i coupe
11/13/2013 12:13:51 PM
It was cold and you were on dog shit Prius tires. And yes he out powered you by a lot even with the blower.Drive the teg till the next gen stang is released if you wanna put up numbers lol.
11/13/2013 3:51:12 PM
I'll be waiting to see if the car is totaled. If so expect another "buying a car" thread to pop up
11/13/2013 4:15:34 PM
Sorry to hear about the loss man! I was really looking forward to riding in a boosted BRZ too... Really glad you are OK
11/13/2013 7:39:57 PM
again, glad you're safeI'd be the last to ever belittle one's skill in recovering from getting squirrely.. I know the feeling all too well
11/13/2013 9:13:26 PM
We all know some cars snap at the limit. My guess is the blower took away some of the balance of the car since it could now gain tire speed significantly faster than before especially on the primacy tires. If it were me I would have probably been pushing the car as hard as I could because I'm competitive and wasn't happy with the lap times (especially if I had a sibling there egging me on) What I'm saying is, I kid but I honestly don't think you are a bad driver. I've always wanted a track day car and now I'm thinking if you can put yours in the wall I'm certain I can.
11/14/2013 5:38:46 AM
I appreciate that. And I was still beating my brother's lap times (measured using Harry's LapTimer) but that wasn't really it, haha. He was in the beginner group, I was running advanced (though admittedly probably should have been in intermediate with this organization).
11/14/2013 8:16:11 AM
Ouch...Sorry about the BRZ. Good luck finding a replacement.
11/14/2013 8:58:57 AM
Sorry to hear about the news dude. If you don't mind me being nosy, how much $texas do you think you'll be out if it is totaled? ^^ Oh I thought you were saying your brother was faster than you. Was that just in the straightaways?
11/14/2013 9:56:39 AM
Yeah just straights. If the car is totaled the deductible I'd have subtracted from the agreed value of the car $30850 would be 15%, so $4627.50. So then they would give me a check for $26,222.50. I still owe $16k on the car so I'd have roughly $10k in hand.
11/14/2013 11:24:06 AM
good thing you still have the gs-r as a backup, for now, correct?
11/14/2013 2:39:50 PM
I do, though the insurance policy includes $500 for rental car reimbursement. So I'd probably take advantage of that since it's included
11/14/2013 3:01:14 PM
Ok pics or it didn't happen...
11/14/2013 3:48:49 PM
^same (this is juicy, although it sux for such a young sweet ride)
11/14/2013 3:53:41 PM
I changed my starter twice in three weeks. Every time it was broken on the trip when my family traveled together. That's painful!
11/14/2013 5:39:11 PM
ouch. a track day policy costs what, a few hundred bucks for just a day or two? then it only pays out 85%? Damn, it wouldn't take too many HPDEs of premium + the deductible of one claim for you to be in it for the amount of money you could buy a good dedicated track car for. What you need is a towing-capable DD plus a track car.
11/14/2013 8:43:22 PM
that would still be 65 HPDE's if it cost $300, seems worth it to me
11/14/2013 8:51:37 PM
Sorry I don't have pics up yet. I can't access FB from work (where the pics are hosted) and I've been too busy the last few days to do it otherwise. Hiro has seen a pic, he can vouch.I mean I wish it wasn't real...

I need to work on a god damn 4.0 in an 89 Jeep.Anyone have experience with this god damn Renix shit? I'm certain a couple sensors are probably shit as well as the vacuum harness. It runs OK I'm sure it just defaults into some super-rich safe mode.Someone in the Charlotte area come fix this for me. Or drive from Raleigh, I don't care
11/15/2013 2:03:55 PM
^don't be scared of NC4x4! You'd have way more assistance offered there I bet... and sadly, I'm of no help in that arena
11/15/2013 2:11:44 PM
^^^well yeah that's kinda the shitty part since I just had $5k in work done on the, but that was part of the amount insured so from that I really just lost the labor for the supercharger install and tune.Additionally I still have the stock exhaust manifold and overpipe, which has to be worth a decent chunk of change.
11/15/2013 3:15:24 PM
An update of the ongoing saga of the bummed out s2000Coolant leak seems to have completely stopped since I realized Im' a fucktard and didn't clamp that hose properly. It was in an obvious place, too.
11/15/2013 3:51:27 PM
Well that's good news then!I just got an invoice from VIR for 2 tires bundles and 3 fire extinguishers, $425.

^^^ I don't think that's all that unusual. Hell, Barber is infamous for billing people for the damned sod replacement if you go off the track.

11/17/2013 7:27:55 PM
i can't imagine that car not being totaled. if it was mine, i'd really hope for it to be totaled; i would want that shit back after sustaining so much damage.
11/17/2013 7:41:07 PM
Yeah Josh, I'm actually hoping it is.Also, I don't use Google+, but I think Google forced me onto it somehow anyway?
11/17/2013 8:02:36 PM
