i think nintendo will deliver when it comes to the controller.
it wont be some crazy nintendoball, but it will be innovative 8/22/2005 1:38:28 PM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
^I concur. It really has to be something innovative if they are keeping it so tightly under wraps. That and they probably want to generate hype about it. 8/22/2005 1:52:31 PM |
Docido All American 4642 Posts user info edit post |
They always seem to have hype about their controllers and dont show all the functions at conferences. Thats not to say I was disappointed with the GC controller, I love it. However this one better well blow away anything we've seen before otherwise its a waste of hype. 8/22/2005 2:26:28 PM |

I don't think Nintendo is gonna make a one handed controller. Games like F-Zero and Super Smash Brothers are way too fast for one hand to control. They will have one "controller" that can be "split" so you can hold one part of it in each hand? 8/22/2005 8:54:46 PM |
Josh8315 Suspended 26780 Posts user info edit post |
i think the way you hold it will change. the two pronged parallel symmetric look is out imo. 8/22/2005 9:39:20 PM |

It'll be like a transformer where you can shift it different ways depending on what you're playing.
6 button config for fighting games
"keyboard & mouse" combo for shoot-em-ups
and etc...
okay, so it's probably not true, but that would be soooo cool. 8/22/2005 10:10:58 PM |
Erfdawg All American 875 Posts user info edit post |
Seriously the touchpad and mic will be on there. That is why Peter Monyleux (however you spell his name) was impressed with it. His game Black and White relies heavily on using your mouse to draw shapes to issue commands. Granted these aren't the two things featured on the pad but I'll bet anyone that this is Nintendo's big secret. 8/22/2005 10:16:02 PM |

I'll admit that I'm intrigued by the whole "waving your hand affects stuff" concept.
However, it looks as though that the controller is wireless. That means it's gonna have a battery inside. Is that really wise? What happens when you're in the middle of a game and then you have to stop because the controller needs recharging? 9/16/2005 12:34:12 AM |

Apparently the power this machine will have will be similar to a "suped up XBox." Or about 2-3 times as powerful as a Gamecube. "Basically, take a GameCube, double the clock rate of the CPU and GPU and you're done." So, it simply will not have the horsepower that 360 and ps3 have, period. The discs can store 4.7GBs on a single layer or 8.5GBs when double-layered. But, it could launch as low as $99 and shouldnt be any higher than $149.

It better not cost too much considering the power they're putting in this thing. They'll make up for it with the damn shotgun-controller accessories if they ever come out with it. I'm so for some Resident Evil action if they actually do the shotgun. 12/7/2005 10:28:38 AM |

I would hope they would. Considering the possibilities with the new controller and how it'd integrate with their gameplay system they'd at least give it a thought. At the very least I think they'd port it even if its ported to the other 2 systems. Wishful thinking on my part. 1/21/2006 12:08:48 AM |

From an IGN interview with some guy from NubyTech (value controller maker)
Quote : | "IGN: Well, we all hope to be swinging that chainsaw some time down the road come Resident Evil Revolution or whenever... we look forward to it.
Chen: Well Resident Evil 5 (Editor's Note: PS3 and Xbox 360 exclusive thus far): We are looking forward to it, but we're going to be looking at a unique device for that one. More specific to Resident Evil 5… so we'll see.
IGN: Well thank you very much for your time, and we'll keep in touch. " |
