im so sick of these idiots on cnn. they keep saying its been 6 years since america had a storm threat like this. They also keep talking about how this is probably the next katrina.

lol at CNN - "Historic storm approaching NC"

I guess every hurricane is historic, if you look at it the right way

so out here in Tennessee, we don't care about hurricanes, but all the coverage makes me thirsty. what's your favorite hurricane drink recipe, and maybe I'll mix one up tomorrow to support those in need.

katrina was only a cat 3 iirc but it had been really strong and hit the coast at a 90 degree angle. this storm is not only weaker but just because the ne isn't prepared for a hurricane doesn't mean its in the same sort of risk as the bowl of new orleans.

the main part im mad about is how they say its been 6 years since a storm like this when its been 3 years since the third worst storm in us history.

Katrina was a 3 at first then strengthened to a 5 after entering the gulf.

The reason it's billed as historic is because it is going to impact such a large area, and because it's a huge and slow moving hurricane. The amount of rain that it stands to dump on the NE could be really disastrous. Not to mention the storm surge.

We have about 30 mph sustained winds (guts of 50-60) here and it sounds terrible outside....

God be with you people at the coast...

^^^an rdu spokesman said yesterday that they were operating on a normal schedule....but about 90 of their 400 flights had been cancelled....I imagine it could be more by now...

And joe bistardi (the world's greatest weatherman) has been calling for major landfall between 6-9 a.m. around cape lookout since Tuesday...so it's still coming

^6 something...

^^^^^I posed the question to my parents last night "would you rather a hurricane come in the night and the damage be done when we wake up (ala fran) or come during the day time where you can see all that's going on (aa isabell)..."

Mom said night because both my parents lived through hazel and said it was the scariest time of their lives...twice (since the eye came over wilson)...

I originally thought night as well since I slept through fran but now that I'm an adult and respect the devastation these things can do, I think I would rather be aware of what's happening...

the not knowing sucks...fran didn't bother me at all until we got home from the neighbors' house to find trees on the house, laying across the road, on the barns and equipment, etc and were withou power for 2 weeks...

People who shrug off, look forward to, celebrate, party during, etc. hurricanes (or any substantial weather event for that matter) are idiots...
