decent day off the pier on the Neuse. About 10 good sized croaker, 5 small fish, and I think a pigfish. The highlights of the day were a skate grabbing one of the small lines... it about emptied the reel before we could get to the line and break it. Then we had a big skate (probably 40 lb) hit and it gave me a good 15-20 minute fight.

doubtful that a 13 lb red was in the slot

doubtful that this guy even knows what the slot is

doubtful that he cares about conservation

That's what I'm thinking. It'd have to be an awfully fat fish.

Please respect the regulations, they are there for conservation.

me and B0j0s are going to Lake Michie in a couple hours in Bahama just north of Durham

I just bought a new reel and some new lures last night so here's to hoping we have better luck than the past 3 times we've gone fishing (caught NOTHING at bond lake or pine lake)

What's the slot size in NC? In FL, I think it's 21-28 inches.

No way at all that a 13lb redfish is a slot fish. A giant slot redfish goes 8lbs. This is just some jackass who doesnt give a shit about conserving our coastal fisheries.

we wanted to go deepsea or at least bottom fishing down in Charleston but all the choices are small private charters that charge too much... a result of some silly ordinance

we would have done catch and release (maybe 1 keeper to actually eat)

Just got back from the Keys (just south of Islamorada) . A lot of the reefs are filled in with sand. It will take a decent storm to uncover them.

Limited on mangrove snapper several times. Landed 3 nurse sharks and 2 reef sharks. Also caught an assortment of juvy groupers, snook, and barracuda. The typical assortment of shitfish (porgies, pinfish, lizardfish) were also caught and subsequently used as bait.

Decent trip. Oh, and Tropical Storm Bonnie was a fucking joke.

for anyone interested in making a DIY bait bucket or live well PetSmart(in store) has their emergency battery operated air pumps on sale for $3.19. they are usually $17.99.

you can drill a hole in the side of a cooler or 5 gallon paint bucket and mount the pump(just cut the power cord). it takes "C" battery's i believe and I've had them last a whole weekend while camping and fishing at the beach.

this is the model

Son, I am disappoint

btw is anyone familiar with a dude that goes by the name "Uncle Steve"? He has a crapload of videos up on youtube fishing all over the triangle

funny thing about him is that he uses almost exclusively a spincast reel with almost exclusively nightcrawlers as bait, and always bank fishes. I guess hes on ncangler.com but I ask because my girlfriend recognizes him somehow, like from tv or something like that

hes like an old dude with a big white beard, by no means a professional but his videos are pretty interesting because they show some good spots that I would like to go try and spots that i fish regularly. By no means a professional (lol he doesnt know how to use a spining reel at all he fishes it upside down) but I am inclined to believe he is more of a naturalist.

lately i have been killing it on the eno, 2 and 3 pound bass just wading down west point and pennys bend, whic people say is large for the eno. I finally learned that you cant stay in one place in that river you cast a few times and move along, mch success that way since the populations are relatively low and fish dont seem to school as much you have to seek them out and ive fished the eno so much i know where the holes may be

give the eno a try guys
