holy shit, last night's Foo Fighters show in Charlotte was 3 and half hours of unrelenting rock. Probably the smallest venue FF has played in a decade, which they acknowledged, and they seemed to really enjoy it. The crowd was interesting, but had good energy and the band fed off of it. They kicked off right around 9:15 and broke set around 11:05. Their "encore" started about 11:20 and lasted over an hour finally finishing up with Everlong around 12:35.

I haven't seen FF live in probably 10 years, that show still being a top 10 for me, but this one blew it out of the water. Thank you sumfoo1 for the ticket. I owe you big.

^Totally agree. It was my first FF show & I can say that it was easily the best show I have ever seen. It was amazing to see that they really enjoyed the crowd and didn't want to stop playing. I feel so fortunate to score tickets to see them in such a small venue...it was definitely well worth the price!

I am dragging at work today though. Didn't get back to Columbia until after 2am, then got to work before 8am.

^ & ^^, spot on. holy cow what a f*$@&'n show!!! best show ive ever seen. supplanted Smashing Pumpkins at the Orange Peel.

3.5 hours, the longest, most legendary Foo Fighters show of all time. Not even Wembley Stadium got into the 30's in song count. 35 SONGS last night.

Friends of mine, Museum Mouth, are opening for Junior Astronomers (who I also enjoy quite a bit) at Local 506 on Wednesday (the 12th). Museum Mouth were recently profiled in the Hopscotch edition IndyWeek--they're worth seeing! /plug

Anybody ever go to the Carrboro Music Festival? Looks like it is happening this Sunday. Never really heard of any of these bands, but was thinking about taking the family down there after we get back from church. The shuttle to downtown runs right next to our apartment complex. So is it worth going to, or a waste of time?

both mewithoutYou and The Dismemberment Plan absolutely killed it last night. Totally worth the long drive home and taking a half day off work today. The Plan's set was one of the best I have seen in quite awhile, and that is saying a lot considering they played directly after mwY who I've seen multiple times and is consistently one of my favorite live bands. Finally glad I could check TDP off my list though - hopefully this won't be the first and last time seeing them.

really good. better than the show at moogfest last year. still wish they'd play more stuff before Saturdays=Youth, but they did play an awesome version of Sitting.

I skipped out on seeing Dismemberment Plan on the Change tour at old Kings because I was there to see Enon and left before D Plan's set. It was a bad decision.

^x5 what's up bran? didn't know you ever came on here.

m83 was great. it was a shorter set than last year's show at kings (although they did play a 4 song encore), but the larger venue allowed for some insane light displays. they played all the highlights from hurry up and my three favorite songs from saturdays=youth (we own the sky, kim and jessie, and graveyard girl). the saxophone during "midnight city" and "kim and jessie" puts an enormous smile on my face. they closed with a version of "couleurs" that crushed the studio version on saturdays=youth and it was a proper dance party.
