i'll gladly be "pwnt" by my earlier statement. I'm an A's fan!!! Was playing the reverse-psych type thing.
Landon Powell (Apex HS) caught the perfect game as well.
Braden's mom died when he was in high school so today was very special to him. Awesome. 5/9/2010 8:33:17 PM |

But it could be worse. We could be no-hit and trailing the Nationals in our division basement... 5/9/2010 9:01:15 PM |

^dude, no worries - the Rays are an amazing team. As a lifelong A's fan, I wish our team looked half as good as the Rays do right now... (despite this one game). Im really pulling for Tampa to win the AL east so I can watch ESPN cry along with the millions of poser yankee/bosox fans around here...
Go LANDON! Thats our local boy playing for my A's!

why is he a such a douche again, Ernie? Might you be an A-Rod(yankee) fan referring to the spat a few weeks ago? A-rod is such an honorable, classy guy on and off the field -I would think he would deserve benefit of the doubt

^^haha the only reason Ernie says RJ is a douche is because Ernie really loves birds
Colby Lewis perfect through...4 innings!
only reason I dare bump this is because Lewis pitching against Oakland
Oakland just might be a shitty enough franchise to have one of their pitchers throw a perfect game, then get no-hit a few days later
but of course not
CAUSE WHEN I'M PLAYING AGAINST DALLAS BRADEN IN FANTASY, I CAN'T JINX HIM HE THROWS A PERFECT GAME
BUT WHEN I HAVE COLBY LEWIS PITCHING FOR ME, I POST AND HE GIVES UP 2 RUNS THE NEXT INNING

well considering this is only the 20th perfect game in baseball HISTORY, no, its not happening every week. But I do see what youre saying, in that there have been a lot of no-hitters or one-hitters this season 5/29/2010 9:36:56 PM |

Well, Dallas Braden just had one too this month. That's 2 in the past 20 days. That's 10% of all perfect games. I'd say it's happening/close to happening a whole lot more these days (Buehrle, Sanchez and Jimenez have no-hitters within the past year, countless one-hit games). 5/29/2010 9:47:32 PM |

just heard on quickpitch that this is the first time two perfect games were thrown in the same season since 1880
its early enough in the year, and pitchers are becoming so dominant in the wake of the steroid/hgh era, I really wouldnt be surprised to see another one this year 5/30/2010 9:48:30 AM |

Thing about Halladay is he had a couple of so-so starts and then comes out with this monster game. I highly doubt they'll be another perfect game this season. No-hitter? Sure I expect 1 or 2 more of those, but not another perfect game.
Pitching this year is definitely on the rise, but it is still early and hitters do most of their work in the June/July/August time frame when the heat is out and pitchers wear down faster. I am glad to see that we are not having 50+ homerun hitters all over the place now though and there are more than 2-3 guys with sub-3 ERAs. I do not want 1980s baseball back, but something in between the 1980s and late 1990s is where we are now which is a good balance. 5/30/2010 11:29:05 AM |
