This was a HUGE hand for me. I was at the no-limit, $100 buy-in table. I had already worked my way up to about $180, when I was dealt QJ of spades. Someone raised it to $4, which isn't much considering the blinds were at $1/$2. Anyways, 5 total people were in the hand (out of 6 at the table.) The flop comes 3/4/6 of spades. I hit the flush off of the flop. At this point I tell myself "Jim, there is about a 95% chance you have the best hand here, you better bet it and get the 5 , K and A of spades from beating you. So after a $5 bet, I raised it to $40. I had one caller, and the original raiser goes all-in for like $30 total. The next card is another 6, so if anyone was playing 2 pair or trips, I just lost, but I really felt/hoped everyone was drawing. So I bet $105, the last guy in the hands entire stack. To my surprise, he calls. The river yields another non-spade card, and when the cards were turned, I was right. One guy had the K of spades, the other the A of spades, both hoping to get their 4th spade on the turn or the river. Well, they didn't, and I ended up winning $200 on the hand. Go me.

the bad beat usually refers to a high full house getting beat by a 4 of a kind.

at the casino in FL we went to. if you have full house Aces over Jacks, and someone pulls out a 4 of a kind, then your table wins the jackpot. say the jackpot is 60Grand.

the loser wins 50% (thats why its called bad beat.)
winner wins 30%
table splits the rest of the 20%.

and they tip the dealer however much they want.

thats how it was in holdem. i beleive in 7card it was a 4of kinda beating another 4 of kind or something

I was playing with five of my suitemates last night. I eliminated the last four of them.

In one of them I had 6-4 but stayed in anyways because I was in the blind and had momentum. The flop came out like 6-J-Q. Someone made a fairly decent bet, and everyone folded up to me. I called thinking "Eh, I have a pair. Maybe something good will happen." The turn was a 6. He bet high, I raised higher. We went all in and the trips won.

Eventually, I got the third guy out and it was down to two. The game had been going on for several hours and I was getting tired of playing. We had about the same amount chips so I said I was just going to go all in blind on every hand from then on. I did on the next hand, and he looked at his cards and called, showing an A-10 suited that he felt confident would beat my random cards. Sure enough, my cards turned out to be 5-4 off suite. The flop came with a devastating 5-8-A. Then the next two cards came out another 5-8.

Full hizzle beats 2 pair.

Halfway through a poker tournament, people had the following hands on the pre-flop:

Low Stacked Person - Pocket Aces
Average Stacked Person - Pocket Kings
Chip Leader - King Diamonds 10 Diamonds
Other person - Pocket Jacks

Pocket Jacks starts with a high bet,
Pocket Aces goes all in,
Chip leader calls,
Pocket Kings goes all in,
Jacks Fold,
Chip leader says what the hey and calls.

Chip leader gets the flush on the flop Ad 3d 9d.
Low stacked guy has three Aces
Medium stacked guy has two kings

Turn card -> K spades
Medium stacked guy has three kings

River card -> 3 clubs

Low stacked guy wins the main pot with a full house Aces over threes.
Medium stacked guy wins the side pot with a full house Kings over threes.
Chip leader loses to both hands despite having the highest flush possible on the flop.

Haha.... I had made like $500 the last 2 nights I played, and I decided to play last night when I was a little drunkish. I seriously lost like $200 in an hour, but then somehow managed to win it all back and a little more a couple hours down the road when I sobered up.

I was recently in Florida at the new Hard Rock Cafe Casino. Won over $1000 on $1-$2.

if you think it was easy, you thought wrong. so many people bring so much money to the table that bluffing is not even an option.

Then that leads me to believe that the only reason you won anything was because you got good cards. Because bluffing is a REALLY big part of poker, and if you didn't bluff, then obviously you won only because you had the best cards.

That's only true if the other players play solidly, though. If bluffing doesn't work, that means there's likely a lot of bad play going on, and a tight player can win.

Anyway, I'd love to get in on some smaller games if any are going, though anything above a 20 buyin tournament or 40-ish buyin cash game is out of my league at the moment. Lousy being broke college student life.

i was in FL with him also. and bluffing is NOT an option, if you bluff, then most likely the othe guys at your table have NO MONEY left.

early round bets were $1 incriments, late round were $2.

so if some shmuck raises $2 trying to bluff, you got like $80 with you on the table, then you is gonna call to see whats up.

rarely did i see people bluff. with blinds that small, its nearly imposible.

lol... of course bluffing isn't an option in that sort of limit poker. When Feeble (and most of us) think of $1/2, we think of $1/2 No limit... u didn't mention it was limit. Totally different game.

its very hard to push someone out on a 2 dollar raise.

limit you play solid, its about math.

no limit, its about finesse.

putting a man up for a decision for all of his money is where a bluff is effective. you cannot do this in a limit game.

Why in the flying fuck did you tell him? There's always time after the hand to say, "Tough beat".

Ok, just saw he only had 360 left. Still, it's a tourney. Take his ass out.

Well, he just bet out 250 chips, and only had 360 chips left, so just bet out half his stack. I wanted him to think that I was bluffing. If had any kind of hand he probably would have called, but I knew he was just trying to buy the pot. Even if I don't say anything, he folds after my re-raise. Thought I'd just showboat a bit.

If a 5 had come instead of the 7 on the turn or something, I quite possibly would have body slammed my monitor.

ie, 2-3 off would have won the main pot with a straight, and 4-5 spades would have won our side pot with two pair.

I have absolutely no idea why either of them were in the hand to begin with, this was one of the craziest things I've ever seen happen on PP. I don't think I've ever been on the winning side of such tomfoolery.

Real quick.

Last night I saw someone on ESPN2 with a pair of aces lose to a person with a pair of jokers. The guy with the jokers ended up winning with a flush.

And that is why I couldn't afford to put in more than the $10 and $20 dollar games that I play in.

how much money are you guys making on PP. I play at the 2/4 limit tables and can make about 50 a day... but then the tilts just put me into a flat spin. Overall, I'm wondering if I should just go to the NL tables...

I play 4 cash tables of $25 no limit on party poker. Sometimes 3 cash tables of $25 and one $30 tourney if I get bored.

Now that, boys and girls, is how you get your ass busted on the river by a one-outer. Damn you king of hearts!
I thought I was bout to get paid by the ace of hearts, but didnt count on the royal.

Oh well, I guess one outdraw deserves another(he flopped the flush afterall).

In all fairness he bet when he had the best hand, and he checked when he was beat (on the turn). I am not sure he would have folded at any point anyway, but still....

^^ yeah, I have no problem with the way he played the hand

I checked behind him on the turn in hopes that he would think I was just stabbing at the pot on the flop, and then I could raise a big bet on the river. The turn was so huge for me that I thought I could afford to give him a free card. It just sucks that he hit his out on the river.

I doubt he would have folded to any bet on the turn anyways. And I didnt want him to fold at that point, I had made a monster hand in a big pot, and I thought checking was the best way to extract as much as possible from him.

Like I said, one outdraw deserves another. Shit happens.

Finally got back on form making $1k tonight on pp... I can't compete with a finish like David's though... always get one bad beat near the end of a big multi. Too much luck with all ins at the end.
