i magically lost my 2nd partition (the one i use to store mp3s and stuff for when i wipe windows every month)

i had my 40 gig partitioned into 20/20

PMagic acts like theres just one (40gig)...

windows still sees it as 20gig

any software youd recommend?

I have a utility that'll read them off of the drive, partition or not... you'll need to use something like mp3tag to reconstruct the filenames, though, 'cause it reads/writes the DOS names

Restorer 2000 Pro

I've retrieved 90% files or more from fubared partitions with it before.

maybe one of these days you will just learn to trust that windows doesn't need to be wiped out occasionally... it's good just the way it is.

I'm surprised Partition Magic isn't doing anything ... fixed a lost partition for me not that long ago.

Try Partition Disk Doctor (http://www.ptdd.com/). Demo will show you if anything can be done to salvage what you lost, but it doesn't actually recover/change anything. The 3.0 version is fairly new ... I don't think they have anything for it on the usual searches ... IRC maybe?
