"Pentagon to host
9/11 march, show

BY MICHAEL McAULIFF
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon will hold a massive march and country music concert to mark the fourth anniversary of 9/11, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an unusual announcement tucked into an Iraq war briefing yesterday.

"This year the Department of Defense will initiate an America Supports You Freedom Walk," Rumsfeld said, adding that the march would remind people of "the sacrifices of this generation and of each previous generation."

The march will start at the Pentagon, where nearly 200 people died on 9/11, and end at the National Mall with a show by country star Clint Black."

So we're going celebrate a tragedy with march and country music festival??

yeah thats right, we'll show all those terrorists how little their acts affected us on that day by throwing a party!!! i wonder though, how do the friends and relatives of those killed feel about it? i mean its almost like celebrating the anniversary of your friends death with a party and live concert...

I can kind of see where they're coming from (the whole "You haven't got us down" angle), but I don't think it's a particularly non-shitty idea.

i don't think there's really much point to this, but I don't see anything wrong with it. A friend of mine died last year in a motorcycle accident, but he wasn't a very religious person, but studied buddhism and taoism alot. he was one of those love life kindsa people, so we didn't have a funeral. instead, all of his friends and relatives got together at his house, adn we had a big party. we all got drunk and high and had a bonfire and and danced and listened to music in his honor.

we celebrated his life rather than mourning his death. it was, circumstances aside, probably the best time I've had in years. I thin this is that kind of thing, but they have clint black playing, which ruins it

^that's cool and everything; I dont' think I'd have a problem with that

but I don't think everyone would agree with you. and when you're celebrating other people's deaths, especially ones so horrific, isn't that kind of, at the very least, inconsiderate?

wait
who do we support here?

the families of victims (that we gave millions of dollars to and i'm sure are fully supported)
or the troops (who will be so screwed over once this war is over its not even funny)

this is about 9/11 so i don't really think its for the troops so much. i think its more for showing these terrorists we can't be intimidated. like they care, its not going to desuade them from killing innocent people, its not going to make them think "wow maybe we should give this up, it doesn't seem to be working." you can't rationalize with irrational people.

THE HORRIBLE IRAQI MILITARY ATTACK OF 9/11

This will get more media than any anti-war march ever has, and people will still bitch about the "liberal media" trying to "cost us the war".

are you one of the people who sees it as completely untrue?

see some of us pick the bullshit out of things, and others swallow it whole or reject the entire thing.

i had three guesses of what type you are, but only needed one.

bias tends to go to the left, sometimes the right depending on the source.

the most important thing is whether or not it sells papers/gets people to watch (ie: celeb trials, missing girl in aruba)

problem is, most conservatives seem to speak like they think cnn is some vast conspiracy to spread misinformation and hatred for american. i think thats the stupidest thing here.

from my experience, its usually the conservative republicans that automatically discount anything they hear from anyone outside their party line without looking into it. sure, there are liberals like that too, but i personally just read the stuff on my startup page from the AP and focus on the factual stuff, not editorials/opinions/etc, so I cant say I'm really a part of that.
