I just got a new muffler for my truck and am looking for a good place just to weld it into my cat-back system. I took my truck to Majestic Muffler on S. Saunders Street last week and they were going to charge me over $210 for a Magnaflow muffler and install. I got the muffler online for $100 (Majestic was going to charge me $170) and I have heard good things about Bob's Muffler Shop off of Tryon Rd. Is this place going to screw me over or screw anything up on my truck and are they reasonably priced?

Is Henry's on Capital or Millbrook? Is there any reason not to take it to Bob's Muffler Shop or is Henry's work just that much better?

if its just a straight cut and weld there is no real reason for any muffler shop to be any different. I'm sure someone like BigBlueRam will chime in a few saying he'll do it for $30 or a refill of his tanks

Where is the Henry's on Millbrook? I can't find it anywhere online. Which would be closer to campus?
It is not just a straigh cut and weld. One maybe two pipes are going to have to be added, because the new muffler is a few inches shorter than the old muffler.

Still up between Henry's on Capital and Bob's close to Tryon (didn't know that was far enough out to be considered Garner). Bob's is actually closer and would be more convenient to try to get to at 8 tomorrow morning, but if he is going to do a bad job on my truck I want to know and take it on to Henry's.

How many of you have had personal experience with either of theses places and can you give me a reason like bad quality not to go to Bob's Muffler Shop?

In case you didn't know, Bob is Henry's father.

So good quality either place.

Thanks zxappeal! Finally someone to comment on the actual quality instead of just trying to tell me what to do.

I've been to Henry's many times. He does all my work, and I have sent a number of people to him. Henry himself now work at Milbrook. It is on the left just past Old Wake Forest RD, heading away from Creedmore.

I think he charges $30 to weld in a muffler IIRC

majestic does great work, but you have to know them to get a good price. we sent a lot of state trucks there at my old job, so i got him to fab an entire straight pipe dual exit cat back system with 24"tips for my personal truck for $117. the reason they charge so much there is because they can, they stay as busy as they can handle all the time. they do a lot of work for wake county, ncdot and ncsu. i was thinking about working there until i got a better offer from tommy at the phillps 66 on western last week,

Yes I have been to Bob's they have done me well. They were cheaper than Henry's.

Well I am doing it from my apartment, which is near intersection of tryon and avent ferry. Its about 5 mins to Bobs. Plus you gotta go thru a gazillion stoplights to get to capital.

call an make an appt. don't think you can just walk in there and get on the lift. all those places stay pretty busy, so calling ahead is a must.

you could get lucky, but more than likely you won't

Took it to Bob's today and they did a great job as far as I can tell. I haven't gotten up under the truck to inspect it closely yet. I didn't have an appointment. I just dropped it off this morning before going to campus. They actually called me at 3 wanting me to come pick it up early so they could go home early and start their long weekend.
