The release for this game has been put off for a while now, but I couldn't find any other threads on it.

For those of you who haven't been following this game, it is a psp exclusive game coming out sometime this fall. It will be set in Liberty city but with a completely different storyline from GTA3. I'm not going into all the details, but they've taken out swimming and flying, but have added weather effects like snow which will accumulate and affect your driving.

For more info i would recommend http://www.gtapsp.com because R* still hasn't released anything official online (only playstation mags)

There's supposed to be some more information coming out this week http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=925776&topic=23342288
..but you can probably take that with a grain of salt

I'm thinking that this game will be a must have for anyone with a psp, and will hopefully generate a huge amount of hardware sales for the psp as well.

a GTA title will be ready at PS3's launch. No more PS2 GTA's.

Without flying, GTA is dead to me.

Although, if someone I knew with a PSP had it, i'd play it.

It turns out that both the PSP and DS are pretty good systems with some pretty good games on each.

Last month I was obsessively playing THUG2 Remix.

Now I'm obsessively playing Advance Wars DS.

The official website just went live.

http://www.rockstargames.com/libertycitystories/gta_lcs.html

It has the first trailer, several new screenshots as well as links to a few fake websites that Rockstar has created to promote the game.

Oh and an official release date has been set now too. October 25th.

Also the official website just got updated. They have the second trailer, links to more faked websites that integrate into the game, more screenshots, and info about the multiplayer.

still doesnt say if the multiplayer supports online or just ad hoc

right now the speculation is that it just supports ad-hoc, however there is tunneling software that you can run that allows you to connect to the internet and play with other people. I've tried it out for Tiger Woods 06 and it seems to work just fine for that.

Then again Tiger Woods isn't exactly as bandwidth intensive as I'd imagine GTA would be.

i found no-one was ever online when i've tried to use tunneling software, but I'm sure that's gonna be a different story with gta

Doesn't mention anything about the US date. I wouldn't worry too much.

Then again I'll bet Sony is begging Rockstar to delay so they can get their new 2.5 firmware as a requirement.

My copy made me upgrade to 2.0. The firmware tricker program didn't work for me.

But still.....GTA!!!

Well I'll say this. The controls leave a LOT to be desired.

I'd almost give one of my nuts to have a right thumbstick.

To look left/right/back while driving you have to hold down the left trigger and use the thumbstick. The same thumbstick that you use to steer.

That's right, no steering at all unless you are looking forward.

Moving the camera while on foot is the same story. Not intuitive at all.

Targeting is also very awkward. It's going to take a lot of getting used to.

That being said, if this game required 2.5 firmware, I'd probably go out and buy a new white PSP just to play it on so I could keep my old 1.5 intact.
