Im in a scary movie mood, and lI'm ooking for some recomendations for moderately recent movies that I haven't seen or forgot about.

None of that shit like Darkness Falls, where you see teh bad guy entirely too much. I dig the ones that are like the slow, fuck with your mind movies.

Saw, What Lies Beneath, that sort.

thx

Darkness Falls is one of the shittiest movies ever, and not because you see the bad guy too much

that being said, I would also like to hear some suggestions. I haven't seen a scary movie in a while.

^I'd say House of 1000 Corpses is more weird than scary. There were a lot of "wtf" moments.

I thought Final Destination was pretty good, but not really that scary. More of a suspense I would say.

Truly scary movies are becoming a thing of the past. Tired and formulaic.

Try:
Shaun of the Dead (more silly than scary but you must see it anyway)
Event Horizon
The Devil's Backbone

The remake of the Amittyville Horror was surprisingly good. I don't think it is out on DVD yet though.

Flame away, but I still can't watch The Grudge by myself. The concept that evil will follow you however and whenever to get you was pretty damn scary and there was no way to defeat it.

Excellent horror films for anyone to see:

Most of those aren't your cliche "oh shit pops out at you and its a ghost or little girl" films, but actual horror in the sense of "oh my god, I cant believe what I am seeing"

I agree, Event Horizon is one scary fucked up movie. Along those lines, you could include Sphere. Good, but not as fucked up as EH. I also really like the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Masacre. And you can never go wrong with Se7en. Here is a small list of other good ones.

The Shining
Jaws
The Exorcist
Night of the Living Dead
Psycho - The original, not the shitty remake

I have kinda mixed feelings on Event Horizon after having seen it recently. Don't get me wrong, it was plenty screwed up. However, the one thing which I kept coming back to was that the Doctor repeatedly said that the ship was "alive." Aside from the repeating gateway openings, I really didn't get that impression so much... Anyone care to elaborate?

Event Horizon, 28 days later... these seem to be popular favorites...

Freddy vs. Jason made me laugh... the new Amittyville Horror wasn't too bad.

How is Constantine?

I'm not looking for slash & hack movies; more of the "aww hell no, I would get the fuck out of there if I heard/saw that shit" type.

The Thing? I may be confusing this with the movie with "It". I dont know, one of these was a crappy stephen king and the other kicked ass, It was the one with Kurt Russel at some artic military base with that wierd alien lifeform that would hide in a person only to pop out in some extremely grotesque way. Sorta like those mutants from Halo. Very entertaining scary shit.
They also made a video game tribute to that movie I think.

aha

constantine is very entertaining, not oscar worthy of course. i don't know about you're taste in movies but i was plenty pleased. though i don't think its not what you're looking for. its more along the lines of occult movies like "the excorcist" and action/horror like "underworld".
