the devils, which i just saw tonight...insanity. 20 nuns having an orgy on a giant crucifix? goddamn, indeed.

bad timing: a sensual obsession...its got art garfunkle as a manipulative sexual monster...and the scary thing is that you can relate with him, sadly enough.

what else you got?

Cannibal Holocaust far more so than anything else I've ever seen...and I pride myself in my horror collection...so hopefully that says a lot.

have not seen the devils but it looks pretty sweet...

John Water's early flicks, obviously Pink Flamingos

But don't overlook Desperate Living, which is arguably better:

we're watching punishment park this thursday, 6pm, caldwell G106.

breaking the waves, dancer in the dark, and dogville also belong on this list.

dancer in the dark is not disturbing

just because it is depressing and shows someone get hanged does not qualify it for this list i mean for christ's sake...

.... wait, i forgot bjork was the main character. carry on.

but seriously, if you're going to pretend that Dancer in the Dark is "disturbing" then shit you might as well add Eye of God and Monster to the list too hell let's throw in The Pianist and The Jacket while we're at it

Man Bites Dog? Doom Generation? Gummo?

I thought the topic was about disturbing movies, not amateur crap.

You guys want a horror movie that will spook you shitless? I’m not talking about fake gore and buckets of blood but a movie that genuinely gets under your skin? Check out the Japanese movie, Audition.

If you want to be absolutely floored by a movie, go out and rent it. Don’t read any spoilers. If you want a review, here’s one:

Quote :
"“Audition is best experienced without any knowledge of its plot; as such, I'll try to remain as vague as possible. The film is somewhat similar to The Birds in narrative structure, wherein the two-hour movie spends its first three-fourths as a melancholy romance, and then abruptly the final half-hour becomes, well, decidedly unromantic. However, unlike Hitchcock's quasi-masterpiece, the relative normality of the first part of the story does not exist merely to make the protagonist more relatable; instead it serves to set-up psychological underpinnings that will make the climax so excruciatingly effective. The final fifteen-minutes, which I relate to being struck by a speeding 18-wheeler, conjoin into one of the few perfect executions of unbridled horror ever filmed.”"

http://clcole.people.wm.edu/audition.html

The scene below is probably one of the most surprising and unsettling scenes I've seen in a movie to date--and totally void of fake blood and gore. The question is: what's in the bag in the background?

if it is subtitled i have my doubts. i mean, i dontmind foreign films, but i have a hard time getting spooked when i gotta be reading the dialog.

That's fine. Then simply go to IMDB, read the reviews, and see how many mention that the subtitles were a problem. You probably won't find one out of a few hundred. Instead, you'll find many along the lines of "Holy S***, this was terrifying"

ill take your word for it and id probably rent it, but im saying psycho thrillers that have plot twists and rely on dialog are bleh with subtitles. hope its visually pleasing.

26. Seven
21. Jacob's Ladder
11. Audition
5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Holy Smoke

Any movie that has Harvey Keitel in a dress, lipstick, and one boot chasing a "deprogrammed" cult member across the desert qualifies as weird/disturbing to me

Texas Chainsaw Massacre? The original one? Is this a joke? That is one of the worst movies ever produced.

beat me to it. i really didn't like scary movies until i saw this (i still don't care for them, but now they're boring). it was so far beyond anything else that i've ever seen that just makes everything else seem tame and normal. no matter what disturbing shit is happening on the screen all i can think is "at least it's not that bitch from audition, they would be seriously fucked then"

the scariest part is the lengths that she went to during the shoot - we're talking the scene from the screen cap

i'm just glad somebody else has seen it, i've tried to explain the impact this movie has, but nobody seems to get it until they actually sit through it - if they can make it to the end that is
