The Original Hollywood Horror Show - done by real hollywood makeup/effect artists
http://www.originalhollywoodhorrorshow.com

Great place and I recommend it to anyone willing to go up to Snow Camp, NC. I've been the last two years and it's awesome.

Here's the resume of the guys that do it (buncha movies basically):

They're doing haunted tours of Mordecai House on the 29th from 5-10...I think it was recently on Ghost Hunters.

Yeah that's the thing with most of these. I'd like to go to a lot of them but they are expensive... Guess I'll pick 1 or 2.

The Inter-Residence Council is putting on one in the basement of Turlington on Oct. 30 @ 8pm-?. It shouldn't be lame knowing the people that are putting it together. It's not for kids.

Also know it's free, but they are asking for donations for Hurricane Katrina relief. They're putting a lot of money and time into it, and in the end this'll be a production made by and for college students. It'll be a unique experience.

i heard there was one at dorothea dix, cost $15 but you get your money back if you make it to the end, apparently most people don't and thats how they make their money. Is this going on this year, or has it in previous years but not anymore?

Haunted Corn Maze in Sanford

http://www.grossfarms.com/

I'll be working there. Went there the other night and it's gonna be hella scary, the corn is really tall and spooky at night. Thursday night is College night and you get a discount.

^ ooh i am planning on going there - you think it's worth it to do the haunted maze? i did a haunted maze one
year and it was terrible, but it was also a lot smaller than that one... i could see how it could be really scary though

You should come for sure!! I thought it was scary just walking through there without any of the stuff set up. The haunted part isn't nearly as long as the entire maze, but it's still big. And at the end you get a hayride back to the parking lot.

I'll be a tour guide most nights but I'm going to haunt a few times as well

haha awesome. so is there a haunted trail AND a haunted maze, or is the trail part of the actual maze? because it sounds like there are both, and it's a good bit more expensive than just the regular maze

I think they say "maze & trail" because you go through the maze for part of it and the other part is in the woods. (on the website they have a little animation where they show the woods at the end) The regular maze will also be operating at the same time, but it is separate from the haunted maze. Don't worry about getting lost though, you have 'tour guides' to lead you through the whole way.

ok, anyone that has been to either fear farm or silent forest.... I was going to do one on friday and can't decide which. The silent forest website doesn't have any information really about what is is/what you do there, so info about that would be especially helpful. Just trying to figure out the best bet for the money, as both are pretty pricey...thanks

I've been to the Woods of Terror in Greensboro the last 2 years. It has 14 attractions that you go through in order with your group. How fun it is depends on who you go with and who's around you. I was on the hayride with a group of 13 year olds who wouldn't shut the hell up. The next "monster" told them he would throw them out if they didn't stop touching the monsters. They were annoying as hell and ruined the last 3 or 4 attractions for me. It's pretty expensive but can definitely be a good time. Better than any of the crap around here.

Went to the original hollywood horror show tonight. Was very dissapointed. Takes about 45 min to get there. We then waited about an hour and a half in line (they took a half hour break in there). Group size is waay to big (about 15). In the second room someone elbowed a scarer and he got fed up. The whole thing was stopped and took about 20 minutes to get settled (cops came in, fingers were pointed, girls cried, etc....). Then it took so long they rushed us through so you couldn't take much of it in. During the final big scare the "monster" was ushering us out the door with a chainsaw saying "keep moving." All the monsters were either kids or girls who barely came up to my chin (i'm only 5' 8"), so not that scary. I should have gotten my $15 back. Would not recommend.

i went to the haunted corn maze at gross farms

http://www.grossfarms.com

it was really well put together, and pretty scary. i only wish it had been longer, and our guide was kind of a jerk. she kept trying to rush us through it. i am not sure it was worth $15 but it was still a really good time.

My sister went to the Clownhouse and she really liked it, said it was pretty scary

apparently in that one you have to go through by yourself, there's no "guide"

went to the Jaycees one

it was good, good value for it as well, 7 bucks and the larger the group u mightt can talk them down some more, wish they had an actual house instead, it was more of a pop out and scare you, i advise you to try to get them to make it a small group that goes through much more enjoyable. Effects were done fairly well, less light again though would be better...overall a 6 on 1-10

the people in the parkin lot are the best part of the whole thing

gonna hit up another tomorrow and i will tell you my feelings on that

They (Hollywood Horror Show) must have had a bad night or something. Times I've went were always pretty great. We usually go with a bunch of friends to offset having to deal with other people being with us in a group.

I went up to Alltel tonight to see what Silent Forest was about. I didn't go through.. just wanted to see what it was. The lady at the ticket counter told me that you go through the haunted forest and then their's 2 houses, a cemetery, and farmhouse you do. They have a different celeb each night and I assume the celeb is at the end of the silent forest signing autographs and what not. Tonight's celeb was Lou Ferigno (sp?). It's $17 but you can get $2 off from their website.

I may try it tomorrow night or Halloween.

Went up to Morrisville to see Clown House. Didn't go through it. Just sat in the parking lot watching everyone getting chase by the chainsaw clowns. It was great.

Went to fear farm in clayton last night...it really wasn't that great. We did the Slaughter House which we were told was the best. The ticket lady was straight up angry.
By the way, the coupon on the website is for $3 off IF you buy the pass for all 6 attractions for $25. Individually, the attractions are $10 each and you get to go to "The Black Hole" for free.

Not worth a 20 minute drive unless you are going to all 6 attractions.

I went a couple of years ago to Fear Farm. They only did the pitch black maze and hayride. I only did the maze because I heard the hayride sucked. Maze was great.
