what types of antiques are you looking for specifically? dishes, jewelry, bottles, quilts, furniture? what period are you looking for? pre-1900? 1920's? 1940's?

you can take a drive up on the blueridge parkway and find tons of good spots for 1920's-1940's furniture and dishes.

I am mostly looking for a dining room table and furniture right now.

seriously... try thrift stores.
The one off of capital sometimes have a lot.
I've found 1930's singer sewing machines fully in tact there for cheap... and there i a lot of other old stuff (dates very, but I have seen some really old stuff)...
it just depends on when you go, obviously they won't have it all the time.
Also there is a thieves market near hamricks off of exit 13B from 440...
and ther are a few good antique stores... but I haven't been to the real ones in awhile so I forget where they are.
Also, look up auctions in the News and Observer and go to the estate sales of old people.
I love antiques, but to get good ones for decent price you have to have a lot of patience... and it's often a lot cheaper to get them refurbished than to get them from an actual antique shop (oh, there is one of those in Crab tree Valley mall near the dunkin donuts... they also will give you a card to refurbish.)

In Raleigh.... Whitneys Antiques, Aloma Crinshaw Antiques, and couple more I can't remember at Five Points by the post office and nofo. There is also one up whitaker mill road near five point call Edith Medlin Antiques. All of these places are great and you shoudl be able to find what you are looking for. It is very good stuff. My wife and I have a house full from the paces I listed. We know the owners of these places very well. They will help you out.
