Heh, CSLEPS redid their website (http://www.ncsu.edu/csleps/leadership/lop.htm).

There are a LOT of good people who apply for Leader of the Pack each year. Several who apply know several others who apply, b/c they often have to work with them on various campus events. Bar is also set pretty high in terms of competition. Wish they'd post some info about each of the people listed.

^agreed! even though the pic they have, of him holding the baby, is a little....heh. but he's awesome. he's leading up the compassion in action stuff over at the CoT, and he does a lot, otherwise. he's also a real nice guy in general. but yeah, it's a bit late to vote.

I loved the choice on the male side: A white junior with light hair... or a white junior with light hair.... or a white junior with light hair... Not that I am a supporter of diversity for diversities sake, but really they were all the same... there was no choice.

Then you might have to actually read about what each guy has done, instead of voting on appearances, oh noes!!1

What's interesting is that we have another case of someone leading in the student polling and not being named winner of the award. In this case, Kasey Phillips had a 8.5% lead (27% more votes) over the award winner Nancy Zagbayou. https://vote.ncsu.edu/public.php?mode=results&elid=12

Now granted that CSLEPS and the Leader of the Pack Committee admits their formula which weights the student vote as one of many factors for selection allows this sort of outcome, as it last happened in 2003. However, the case two years ago the 1st and 2nd place persons were only a handful of votes away from being tied. This seems like a much more clear-cut electoral outcome.

Yeah, they have all done fairly similar stuff too... Volunteered here, its all about the students there... and what the hell does "oh noes" mean?

^^If I was Kasey Philips, I would probably be pretty upset about that. I was under the impression that the winner of the student vote was the winner. Don't tell me that there was a big enough disparity between the finalists in other areas to override the student vote.

nope the student vote is only 15% of the verdict. she knew this before she ran for it I assume.

SG cut funding for this reason... we once gave $1000 each out to those who won, but because the student vote isn't seen as being serious... as shown again this year, we cut it down to $750 each for the scholarships.

How did this year prove that the voting was not serious? Because of the low turnout?

^ The people who made the decision to cut it felt very strongly that it should count more than just 15%... the number of people voting was ok.

I think it is ok how it is, but I would like to look into how CSLEPS really decides.

I'm confused. So they cut the dollar amount of the scholarship, but did they raise the percentage that the student vote counted? Is it still 15% or what?
