^Are you handicapped?

If not, then stand up for what you did and pay the amount.

Yeah I would just pay the ticket or I could break your legs and maybe you could get off with sympathy.

If he can't get around to it I'd also be willing to break your legs.

it's a civil fine and doesn't effect your license. just pay it.

no its not a joke, yes i know i was wrong, yes i intend to pay for it

the question was, would it be cheaper to just pay it or would getting a lawyer drop the cost any?

my thinking is that with a lawyer, id pay his fees and court costs at the least.....downside being if i had to pay the full fine as well, on top of the lawyer fees

on the other hand, i just pay the full amount and be done with it

just to make sure there is no more confusion:
1. not a joke
2. yes i am aware that i am guilty
3. yes i plan to pay to take care of this
4. no, i am not trying to get out of paying for it, rather, just trying to not pay as much

You won't get a lawyer to spit at you cheaper than that.

I've never heard of anyone actually getting one of these. Congrats.

I doubt you will be able to get it reduced unless you have some sort of extenuating circumstance (ie just unloading, all the other spots were full, had some handicap, etc.).

That being said, it doesn't hurt to call a lawyers office and see what they say.

a lot of times, if the spot isn't upto code, the ticket can be dismissed.

the spot has to have an up-to-date sign, including the total fine amount $250 along with the statute number. most spots have this, but some don't. if it doesn't have all of those things on the signage, irrespective of if the spot is painted on the asphalt, the ticket can be dismissed.

so if i go over and yank the statute part off and take a pic of it, think it would fly?

^^^^^"All the other spots were taken" is not an excuse, they will laugh at you and tell you to read the sign. It's not handicapped only when it's convenient for someone who is not handicapped.

^^^ It is if he lives there and it is true. I doubt that's the case, but if it were it would be perfectly reasonable. What's he supposed to do, go somewhere else?

it's all about revenue man. same reason red light cameras are used. they don't prevent accident's. they just generate revenue for the city. otherwise the city wouldn't pay for them.
