i was currently taking up a minor because i found out i only had to take one "extra" class and still fulfill the requirements; however, a professor told me today that what you take for your minor can only be counted under restricted electives. in other words, if i took PS 342 it could not count towards my social sciences requirement AND my minor...it would be either or. is this particularly true?

another question, if i were to double major in sociology...and my current major is psychology, could i use the sociology classes i already took (which counted as social sciences) as the concentration courses for the sociology major? i hope that made sense.

i appreciate any help!

I need to see an ADA to make my head spin right and answer your question. Can you either PM or send an email to one of the virtual advisers here: (might be faster via them as I am getting backed up and trying to answer students who I already owe an answer too).

Nasty link, but it takes you directly to the intake email form.

Also, advisers will be on Chat tonight from 8:30-10pm if you want to ask then. [link] http://ncstateadvisingcentral.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ncstateadvisingcentral.cfg/php/enduser/home.php[/link]

Short answer is it depends.

I was able to double-dip all of my non-major courses for both my majors (i.e. common math/humanities), and double-dip all of my minor courses for my primary major. I.e. 3 of my 5 minor courses were CSC courses, 1 was PSY (CSC restricted elective) 1 was PHI (CSC restricted elective).

Again, it depends. My two majors were in separate colleges, and I was able to facilitate things a bit easier that way.
