I know this is really early to start thinking about Christmas presents but if you are anything like me, you like to get your shopping done before Thanksgiving to avoid the crowds. Lots of you (like myself) have the hardest time thinking of ideas of what to get friends and family for Christmas, so lets try sharing our ideas on what to get people. Include the age (and possibly some interests) of the person, so that if anyone has a loved one of similar age/gender, they can get a better idea of what to get them. I'll start.
Girlfriend (21) - Aqua Nintendo DS with Nintendogs bundle. She likes video games and small furry mammals.
Younger Sister (10) - K'nex ferris wheel set. She likes building things.
Older Brother (25) - Still trying to think of something. He just got a new computer so I am trying to think of some kind of peripheral.
Nephew (8 months) - Still trying to think of something. He's a baby so it can't be that hard since he will probably just chew on it.
Dad (48) - I saw a commercial for a multi-tool like thing at Home Depot. It has like an auto-balancing laser level as well as a few other things. He usually does lots of home renovating and stuff like that.
Mum (mid 40s) - Still trying to think of something. She lives in England so it has to be something that I can either ship there or that I can buy online that can be sent there.
Step-mum (51) - Electric blanket. She's always cold. 11/11/2005 7:37:31 AM |

Girlfriend (21) - Already bought it one thing... but she might check TWW at some point so, not telling
Brother (18) - Star Wars DVDs and some books he wanted
Sister (16) - Not sure yet... thinking bookstore giftcards, as she loves to read
Dad (50?) - Something for the boat, like a red flashlight (red light, not casing retard) and some other items
Mom (50?) - Not sure yet 11/11/2005 7:46:00 AM |

I got my nephew who is the same age as yours a wooden train set that has the cars spelling out his name.. I figure if I spent a lil more this year for it.. then next year I could buy him additional track or accessories to go with it.
My older bro (25) just moved to Raleigh from Asheville and loves the outdoors so I got him some books on trails and the such in the area.
My mom (50s) is a typical mom who never buys anything for herself and therefore in always in need of clothes so I got her a few things.
Dad (60s) likes sitting outside reading his newspaper at night and watching the birds so I got him a hummingbird feeder made from a beer bottle.
Oldest Sister (29) just moved into a new house and decorated her formal living room.. I found a peice of pottery that matched the leaf pattern in the area rug.
Other Sister (27) has always collected precious moments so I got her a xmas decoration from them that was monogramed.
Lil bro (11) got him a lava lamp.
I shop for xmas presents year round just cause its less of a budget crunch at the end of the year and its hard finding a gift that I know theyll love with limited time... and now that im done and I can just relax 11/11/2005 8:39:56 AM |

As far as mom, dad, and sister goes I dont think it'll be that hard...but does anyone have any idea what to get my fiance in Iraq?? -I send him DVDs almost every day, magazines and pictures.
I really want to get him something he'll, but im not sure what that is. We live in charleston, SC and I know he really misses the city, so I might go around and take pictures or even a video of our favorite spots. I think he'd like that. If anyone else has any creative ideas let me know! 11/11/2005 12:05:51 PM |

^What are his interests? Does he play the DVDs on a regular DVD player hooked up to a TV/computer? If so, perhaps he would like one of those personal DVD players that have the small LCD screens on them. He would probably like being able to watch the things you send him without privacy being a huge issue.
^^The train thing sounds like a good idea, where did you get it? A regular place like Toys R Us? 11/11/2005 1:37:20 PM |

^ I know that I send my boyfirends mum stuff from Bath Junkie... you can customize the scents as well, and they're easy to ship (though I just haul em over on the plane with me). 11/11/2005 2:53:39 PM |

Parents (46) A tiki mask, some kona coffee, and a ukulele (this is what they want).
Husband (27) The hell if I know. He wants, and I would love to get him an Xbox 360, but I don't have that kind of money.
Best friend (25) A toy for her daughter (almost 9 months), and a gift certificate for her to Target. We've lived in different states since we were 13, and it's easier to get her gift certificates, because I don't know what she wants/needs, esp. since she has a kid now. 11/11/2005 4:13:31 PM |

I'm not too worried about my immediate family, but I'm going to meet my future in-laws for the first time over Christmas, and as his parents are divorced, it will mostly be his mom and siblings. I'm not worried about getting anything for them, but I'm thinking I should really get something for his mom, so I'm looking for ideas. She's supposedly really classy and everything and recently moved, so I'm thinking maybe something for around the house, but in my experience such things are pointless so I don't want to just get her a picture for the wall or anything. 11/13/2005 1:27:40 PM |

^^ In that situation I would give her something that has some meaning to you.. like growing up one of my parents best friends were potters and I would often go over and help make stuff. Now if I need a present for someone I dont know well I would go over to there shop and pick out something they made. 11/14/2005 8:17:55 AM |

A nice, matted and framed picture of you and your fiance, or if that seems too forward, one of just your fiance. Seems like kind of an obvious gift, though.11/14/2005 5:14:32 PM |

For babies, I would suggest a video coupled with an actual character. From what I've noticed, they find it really cool when the thing in tv is right beside them. 11/21/2005 5:18:02 PM |

I finished all my shopping yesterday, this is what I ended up getting for my family members if anyone needs any hints:
Dad (48) Laser level kit thing and an automatic self extending/retracting tape measure. Brother (24): FM transmitter for mp3 player in his car. Younger Sister (10): One of those infared wheel things that hover when you shoot it when the infared gun. Step-mum (51) - Electric blanket. Nephew (8 months) - One of those bouncy things that you put in door frames so the baby can jump up and down. 12/4/2005 1:58:24 PM |
