I'm thinking about moving up there for grad school. I'll be in Biddeford this sat - mon. Anything worth going to see or do? What's the best transportation to use to get to Portland from Biddeford? Would it be worth buying some fresh lobster/fish to bring back here?

That area is awesome in winter. There's Freeport a little north of Portland, this is the headquarters of LL Bean. There are also a lot of other outlet stores right beside the big LL Bean store. In portland the downtown area by the waterfront is pretty cool to walk around. Kennebunkport is a little south of biddeford, you can drive by the Bush compound and walk around the little town square. Pretty much all of maine has the smalltown new england feel, they have really strict zoning and building laws. So you won't really see any McDonalds with the typical yellow and red ugly building, they just look like houses. I've never used the public transportation but I can't imagine its very good for getting from city to city, pretty much everyone drives where they need to go.

Eh, I'm from Maine.... I can't tell you about the transportation to Biddeford but I can tell you about living there. Cold as hell in the winter and winter lasts from november through april. Summers are really nice with no humidity. If you live in the country (woods) then beware of bug season in april-may, it's pretty bad. The scenery is nice but I mean that in a landscape kind of way, the women leave something to be desired looks-wise. If I were to move back there I would only live in Portland so you've made a good choice looking near there. It's Maine's biggest city and feels like a miniature Boston. People there are really nice, probably will be sarcastic but not in a bitchy New York way. I guess that sums it up, if you have more questions, just ask.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Responding to someone's comment, there are PLENTY of jews but you're right, not too many black people. It's pretty damn white up there.....not sure if that's good or bad but there it is.

I remember seeing this thing on TV about how alot of african immigrants are moving to this one town in maine. Its like 20% African. Anyways ppl had a problem with it, but I'm sure they're nice up there. How can they not be.

Yeah, that was Lewiston. The mayor got in trouble for telling them not to have more of their friends and family come. They were killing the city welfare system.

i think the tallest building is the Holiday Inn, i stayed there when i was about 13 and it seemed pretty cool. I remember lots of skate boarders.
