Have you ever gotten a bump on the lower back of your neck from doing squats?

I get one there...but its more a knot..not so much a bump, my personal trainer usually just massages it out.

If its really small it could be a lypoma and have absolutely NOTHING to do with lifting weights...I would have it checked out, especially if you can move it around. Sometimes lypomas mean nothing, other times, they could be something else.

Just another reason not to do squats...

As if I needed another reason than the fact that they fucking suck.

Yikes fruit stripes. My lifting partner was doing military press and like something popped out of his wrist last week...kinda like that scene from Aliens.

In conclusion, you might want to get that check out!

buy a Manta Ray for doing squats if that's a problem. makes them MUCH more comfortable.

I used to all the time, then i started doing squats with the bar going across the lower part of my traps not the top of the traps/neck. Ever since I switched I haven't had any problems. Also use a pad if you're not, that should help. And make sure you're working out your traps, the bigger they are the more natural padding you have..

yeah, i keep it down on my shoulders rather than on my neck, too

although i don't really do squats anymore...i decided to ease up and go to leg presses instead

I think you can just let it chill. It shouldn't affect anything unless it actually inhibits your movement, which it doesn't sound like it should.

i just did heavy squats today, it got bigger, so i think its directly related to squats. its right where the bar sits in the middle of the traps. it doesnt hurt or bother me, it just looks bad

Manta Ray, dude. I'm telling you, you'll get under the squat bar and be like "AHhhhhhh...that feels good."

I never liked the manta rays, they were too small and kinda pinched my neck and front of my shoulders.

I don't like pads either.

We'd have gotten laughed at if we said "hey lemme get a pad or manta ray for this squat workout" on the football team. I just got used to bare bar.

nope

ive had a catfishtooth like callous on my shoulders for awhile at one point

but yea, i do not put the bar on the nape of my neck, when i squat i hold hands on the weights not the bar and it stays on my traps or whatever those are called

Squeeze your traps together so the bar rests on muscle, not bone. At most you will get some bursted superficial capillaries on your traps. If you continue to get it, that shit will start to slowly permanently grow.

Squats are really good for development and overall strength. Its the staple exercise for strength.

I saw some dude shit his pants once while doing squats. It was disgusting, yet amazingly funny at the same time.

I didn't say that they weren't effective....I just said they sucked.

Running 10 miles sure is effective in increasing your endurance...but it sucks.

I thank god that I'm blessed with a naturally strong lower body so I don't have to do squats and/or intense lower body workouts every week. I abhor lower body workouts.

Usually, the pounds I put up more than made up for the jeers about pads. Back in the day that is...my legs are trim these days.

Dude, don't kid yourself. Everytime you stepped underneath a squat rack, everyone in the gym sort of paused what they were doing so that they could watch the "pussy guy who uses pads and thinks he can lift a lot" try to squat.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

When you can run 23 miles at a 5:30 pace, you can talk to me.

When I was a soccer playing 150 lb'er that could max out at 345 in the squat rack I usually didn't get too many people thinking I was a pussy in regards to leg routines.

Regardless, I realize you are trolling anyway.

I used to get that bumb when i did squats regularly, but now for the most part, I don't get over 225 as I do them only as a warm up for leg press

the spot where the bump came up is still there, it just doesn't protrude as much

and whoever said use a pad, you're a damned pussy in my book
