...that Wolfpack2K, the arch-conservative ultra religous right, is about to become majority owner of a bar in downtown Athens, GA? Could be happening very soon!

(And I'm not buying it for the purpose of turning it into a church either, haha)

Also, there's nothing in christian doctrine that says that drinking is sinful. Especially considering that Jesus himself made the first documented beer run. That's just the evangelicals, mormons, cults, and other groups who use religion to control their congregations.

You know, that one where he was at the wedding party, and they ran out of wine. Then he turns the water into wine. The modern equivalent would be when the keg runs dry, and J-dogg performs a miracle, and the keg stays full.

But I am sure being drunk and excessive drinking IS sinful.

What do you think happens in a bar?

Saying that you just own the bar and not telling people to get drunk, won't cut it.

You know human nature is weak.

In a bar, people WILL get drunk, and other sinful things WILL happen.

When you own a bar, you are part of it.

i have a great aunt who is a nun, and they keep plenty of beer in the fridge at the convent.

HEHE! Actually, in the 1963 Roman Ritual (the book that priests use for their rites and things - has the rite of exorcism included), there is a rite for the blessing of beer.

THAT would be awesome - charge an extra dollar for blessed beer.

95%, eh? I guess that means I am free to say things like, 98% of all liberals take a dick in the ass at least 3 times a week, or how about 72% of all people who voted for Kerry are addicted to drugs, or maybe that 88% of all women have 50% the mental capacity and ability as the average man, perhaps even that 42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot... yeah.

Besides, I'd rather have someone who wants to live a wholesome life but struggles to achieve it versus someone who has no interest doing so whatsoever.


By the way, most of the time I go to a bar I do not get drunk. Its amazing, but not everyone drinks to excess. Best of luck in your venture.

Show me something that says being drunk is sinful. Also, please provide doctrine that clearly lays out that "excessive" drinking is sinful, as well as the documented thresholds of what constitutes excessive drinking.

you know, my church meets once a month at Mitch's to drink beer and talk about God.

Which reminds me, there are many monks who brew beer, and there's a long tradition of monks making wine and spirits.

SO, I think God is ok with drinking, but...you're still accountable for what you do while drinking.

well we haven't formed the corporation yet... it'll take a little bit. But it is called Chasers, it's on East Washington street. Tomorrow (Saturday) is its last night open for right now.
