Of course this won't turn out as intended.... I don't want to debate whether or not companies/people should say Merry Christmas in this thread. That can be done in other threads. A simple yes/no answer is all that is needed. Also, if you feel comfortable enough to provide your religious background, that'd be good too.

1. When someone says or when a company has a banner out that says "Merry Christmas", does it really and truly offend you? (Again don't want to debate at all in this thread)

2. What is your religious preference?

Me:
1. No
2. Protestant, practicing

I really am just curious. Asking these questions down here (LA) isn't helpful as 99% of people are Catholic.

OK changing it per woodfoot's suggestion below to:

1. are you offended by merry christmas
2. are you offended by happy holidays
3. are you offended by happy hannukah
4. are you offended by happy kwanzaa (do you say happy? or merry? oops i don't know)
5. are you offended by any other common celebratory phrase
6. what is your religion

Remember: this is a survey, not a debate

me:
1. no
2. no
3. no
4. no
5. no.. ok maybe if it involves devil worship... but really not then
6. protestant

shouldn't you have one for "christians" to say if they are offended when someone says "happy holidays"

^^nah, i am really not interested in that question. i just want to know if jewish people, agnostics, athiests, etc were really offended if someone said "merry christmas". i guess it is because i am not offended by "happy holidays", "happy hannukah" or anything else for that matter. but sure lets add a few questions...

1. are you offended by merry christmas
2. are you offended by happy holidays
3. are you offended by happy hannukah
4. are you offended by happy kwanzaa (do you say happy? or merry? oops i don't know)
5. are you offended by any other common celebratory phrase
6. what is your religion

1. ) No. It shouldn't offend anyone since we get off that day. Martin Luther King Day doesn't offend me and I'm white, I just like it b/c I typically get outta school that day even though I could care less about anything else.

2.) Christian

2 it's a bit irritating when I see it in the media and commercials, when they're blatantly being PC. I don't get really worked up about it though.
