im not just talking about conference games

but i also think next time state plays unc we'll front him with one guy and have somebody else behind him and try to deny him the ball before he even gets it...he's a good player, a very good freshman, dont get me wrong...but ive NEVER seen a freshman get the calls he's getting

I agree that Hansbrough does get a ridiculous number of calls. Even more than May ever got. His first move every time he gets it the paint is to lower his shoulder and jump into the defender. Of course he never gets called for a charge. He is a FT whore.

I think the single biggest factor in our UNC loss was how physical they let UNC play on us. It really disrupted everything we tried to do offensively. There were several times Brack was getting raped by 3 guys and either it was a no call, a jump ball called WAY too early, or a Brack turnover.

I fealt exactly the same way.
Carolina would of lost had it not been for the ridiculous lack of calls made for us and the ridiculous over kill in calls they got. The sad thing is Carolina thinks they are a better team than us just because they can act aggressive as hell on defense (and get away with it) and then be little bitches on offense (also getting away with this). Its a sad world sometimes when it comes to Carolina basketball.

Refs do buy into hype, in both football and basketball. It's pretty clear that players with a reputation for being talented and clean get calls that other players never will. One example: Chris Paul made loads of dirty plays last season, and never got called out for it, because he had a reputation for being a clean player and thus that didn't fit the impression they had.

At the same time, though, it's not a conspiracy against State, it's just something that happens. My guess is this season we're probably going to be 3rd in terms of getting calls in the ACC--UNC and Duke are ahead, but you have to admit that even playing on BC's home court, we seemed to have the advantage. I wouldn't be surprised to see that hold throughout conference play.

^I agree. Like it or not, based on recognition, prestige, whatever you want to call it, Herb is prolly the 4th highest coach in the ACC. K, Roy, Gary Williams, and then Herb. Im sure the coach's reputation has a lot to do with it.

I was thinking about this the other day.

UNC and Duke have more fans and get more coverage than everyone else. When refs make "bad" calls, people complain. More fans = more complaints. The refs don't like complaints against them, so they make "good" calls.

Just a thought.

Its not a conspiracy against State, its just that the gay blue gets more calls against whoever they play. There is definately a bias towards UNC and Duke over the course of a season, no matter what anyone says. The games that are evenly officiated are the games where those two teams will struggle the most.

well thats just a big load of crap because its basically saying that if all games were called fair state would always be better than unc duke (since the games duke and unc struggle the most in are the fair games). every school has alot of fans so pissing off one school all the time would get alot of complaints anyway so that claim was bougs. hansborough is a freshman (who didnt have a huge huge hype coming in anyway) so saying refs cater to him specifically is bullshit. i do agree that better players with better reeps get better calls but its not a thing that happens on every call and you guys way overexagerate to try and make an excuse for unc or duke beating state.

unc wasnt better this time but they flat out beat us. please dont try and say the refs blew the game because we got outplayed and outcoached in chapel hill
