we're recording the olympics using mythtv. we've planned so that we record pretty much every event except figure skating and women's hockey...

Oh the excitement of watching Canada beat Italy 16-0 in women's hockey.

The luge, though. That shit is awesome.

^^^maybe next time they should include some thug and redneck sports to amuse americans

the luge was good today, and cross country skiing was suprisingly exciting

***SPOILER ALERT***

The US has their first gold, in speed skating. that airs later tonight.

Well one medal (gold) isnt too bad for day 1, but we have to do some damage to win the medal count for the first time. The ladies moguls skiiers really let us down.

I dont think the Olympics is a sport. It's a fucking Soap Opera.

Seriously, I do not care if someone was molested as a child, had to paint houses in the offseason to afford to travel, gives out M&M minis on Halloween, or drinks low pulp orange juice.

They spend 30 minutes giving the life story about someone I've never heard of and then he/she takes part in an event that lasts 75 seconds.

And Im suppose to care that he/she can skate/ski/maneuver three microseconds faster than anyone else in the world.

I'm truly amazed that anyone is captivated by the Olympics. Would I have an awesome time in Torino where coke & strippers run rampant? Absolutely. But do I care who lost their little brother to cerebal palsy and then managed to put the grief behind them to become the fourth best luge specialist in the world? Absolutely not.

They don't market the sport, they market the story.

And Jim Nantz is the biggest sissy ever. I bet $10 he wears panties during the broadcast.

One of the US women in the luge got knocked out cold halfway down the course. Always interesting when the last part of the course is navigated by a limp body.

Greensboro's Joey Cheek won gold last night. There's someone from Gaston County named Clay Mull that is also on the US speed skating team.

Sweden 7, Kazakhstan 2 (in USA's group)

Canada 7, Italy 2 (in other group)

Saw the first period of the Canada-Italy game before I went to work. Italy actually played pretty well for the first period, they were only down 1-0. In the early 2nd period they actually tied before the expected Canadian onslaught occurred.

Why aren't they showing any of the USA matches in primetime? I know they're showing them live, but I'd rather see that than some American figure skater that thinks he's a bad boy that pushes the line.

did anyone see lindsey jacobellis' fall tonight

had a huge lead after wrecks and collisions in the snowboarder X final, so she decides to pull a method air on the second to last jump, and busts, losing the gold medal and coming in second

maybe the biggest olympic idiot of all time

When they slow it down, it looks retarded, but in normal speed you can tell she got screwed up on the jump.

GERBER! 2-0 the final! First time Canada has been shutout since 1988 against the Soviets.

51 saves I believe for Gerber. Switzerland was outshot something like 26-3 in the third period.
