Never happen. Won't leave Zaga.

Bruce Pearl. There's no one I want more. I'm going to die and go to heaven if Lee Fowler even so much as attempts to call him discussing the position. I'd literally cream myself

Yeah.... I bet Pearl wouldn't leave an SEC football school for an ACC Tobacco Road school....especially considering we have twice the talent

after being in the middle of UT fans today and watching them surround and praise his every last move after the Vandy game, he won't leave. They love him, he loves them...He fits in way too well with their obnoxious fan base. Ok enough ranting...I'd like to see Few though

Yes, Kentucky is a great program

They did at UM-W too..?

Yet he could recruit even better here

Not sure what his buyout is, but he has 3 years on his contract. Our alumni have pretty deep pockets. Not likely, but it could be done.

Quote :
"10. herb won't get fired"

That I agree with.

I wasn't speaking in term of this year. Just in general. He's the coach I want at NC State. Tennessee is upping his buyout after this season as well, unfortunately.

UW-M is a mid major school no one had ever heard of

UT, is not

your comparisons of the two are not valid

He has less recruiting competition at UT...at least when you are talking regional recruits. Here he'd have to recruit against Roy and K

I realize that... but face it, UT isn't a college basketball mecca.

Not saying State is... but it's certainly a step up from Tennessee.

They have nice facilities and a solid fanbase, but the SEC isn't a conference where kids grow up dreaming to play in. At least, basketball-wise.

I agree... not going to happen. Not this year at least. I'd like for us to make a push for him a few years down the road if the Herb thing doesn't work out (And I wanted him last year before he went to Tennessee)

Quote :

I thought about that, but basketball recruiting is so nationwide he wouldn't be going head-to-head with anyone, really.

Hell, how many NC players are on our team? We recruit from California to Florida to Maine.... it's not like football where the majority of players stick around thier home.

NC State is a much better job than you think...especially consdering the talent we have here now (vs. when Herb started).

We're no Duke or UNC, but we're a very high profile job.

We are a step up from Tennessee.

what about our program is so damn tantalizing that he'd be willing to leave

wtf do we have that makes it a very high profile job

what a stupid thread

if we go after anyone, it should be someone from a clearly lesser conference.

i dont want to take someone who might run the risk of getting us in trouble. i dont care what that sweaty guido is doing right now, i dont want to risk getting nailed down the line. same goes for kelvin sampson and john calipari, if we want a coach that wont graduate players, we might as well get huggins and make it entertaining.

i dont know who the hell we could get right now though and not lose a step. maybe bob knight, thats the only person that might keep us on the level we're at and get us to not tank like this.

Pearl has won everywhere he's been. Iowa, Southern Indiana, UMW, Tennessee. That's nothing new. In case you didn't know, coaches have the desire to be the best and play with the best....

We have two national championships, 10 ACC Championships, one of the nicest arenas in college basketball (As does Tennessee, admittedly), we're in the ACC... a Tobacco Road school....in a conference with the most talent (both coaching and players) in the nation. It would be a lot tougher here, but it's also a much better position

except that few has a record of graduating all his players (eventhough yes it is in a lesser conference) and a record of having no disciplinary issues

he is classy and is probably the best coach out there to take over for us

^ I was wondering the same thing a few days ago. I don't follow the NBA at all either

I'm nearly positive Few said he would never leave Gonzaga. I mean, so did Roy Williams in regards to Kansas, but from what I understand Few has been pretty adamant about staying... you think other teams haven't approached him before about leaving?

Nate McMillan comes home to coach his son, who is about to commit to NC State.

Just like Press Maravich coming to coach his son.... and we all know how that worked out
