Well we were also looking at University Suites... what do you think those apts? We weren't sure about the atmosphere. We went by tonight and even though it is beautiful out, there wasnt anyone on their porch... it was just dead there...

thanks

I've not heard of any rape cases there but there are some sketchy people. There are loud parties, and some cars have gotten broken into. I have a couple friends living there and they haven't had any problems except for some sketchy guys hanging out in the grass right outside their patio. I'm sure you can find comparable prices in a nicer area that's still on the Wolfline (if that's one thing you want). I live in Clarion Crossing, and my apt may as well be part of Lake Park it's so close, and we've never had problems, although there has been a car or two broken into over here too.

^^^^^ are you kidding, that place is the slums of nc state. a good friend of mine lives there now, two fun experiences to report

1) there was a drug raid on the floor above her, cops kicked in the door chased people around, some guy ran into a mailbox and bled everywhere. obviously they weren't selling weed up there, probably crack or something along that line.

2) she was thrown in with a 50 y/o disabled alcoholic who didn't work. dude moved in, set down his couch and roaches scattered. it just got worse from there. he didnt work, just sat onthe couch smoking, drinking and lookang at porn all day. had this 40 y/o stripper living there for awhile. dropped entire plates of food on the floor and left the food there, for good. had to call the police on him about 3-4 times for various things.

bad enough she had to live with that guy, even worse that priess took 6 months to evict the him...they don't give a shit about the tenents.

I would stay the hell away if i were you. the place is a shithole. ask yourself this: as a woman, how important is your safety?

It's a shithole....
Don't go swimming in the pool because it's not maintained.
Don't leave any of your valuables in your car because you're asking to have your car get broken into.
I lived there for 8 months and that was brutal.

i lived there for a year and it was fine.

don't rent from the office, find someone who owns a condo and is renting it.

i've lived in lake park since august. i know the guy that owns the condo, and i guess that makes it better somehow, though i'm not really sure why. i live on the lake johnson end and i've never had any problems. i wouldn't be crazy about my girlfriend living there but that's because i worry too much anyway. it's cheap (around $275 plus utilities), but you get what you pay for. my biggest complaint is the location. there's nothing else south of campus worth bothering with and it takes an annoying amount of time to get anywhere since you have to use avent ferry, gorman, and western to get anywhere else in raleigh. either that or cut through a 25 mph neighborhood. campus blocks you from the decent parts of raleigh.

yea, Lake Park is a "has-been" apartment complex. It was the shit years ago from what I hear but now most of the college kids don't live out here anymore. It's a lot of sketchy older people or people who I don't think go to school (or maybe have never gone to school). Avoid it, run like hell

A friend of mine who lived at Lake Park a year ago used to keep a shotgun next to his bed, b/c he was worried about someone breaking in.

I lived there for 2-1/2 years, and Lake Park is definately a shithole. It only cost me $250/month + utilities though, so the cost was the only benefit.

We had one apt next door get set on fire, a drug bust 2x in my building, also cops were called for some domestic violence shit in my building. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on, and some of the parties can get loud. Learn to sleep with earplugs in.

Dont ever leave anything of any value at all in your car, mexicans regularly break into cars and steal shit. I witnessed this one night around 4am.

Lastly, if you can get an apt on the top floor. In the winter your place will stay warm from the heat below, and in the summer on the 4th floor you get a decent breeze if you open your windows. Our power bill was like $60/month almost year round for four people living there.

50% approval rating. hehe that's pretty shitty.

However my apartments

http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/NC-Raleigh-Wildwoods-of-Lake-Johnson.html

Have an 85%, and that's because of the construction that WAS going on. The only semi bad thing is the each apartment gets 1 assigned space. Now that the construction is over there is plenty of parking. I've never had to park more than 40 feet from my building.

i live in lake park now and there are definatly betters places out thier but yall are tlakin like it's the WORSE. i have frineds who pay nearly double what i pay in rent and utilities and guess what?? his apt has had countless breakins, deadbeat tenants, AND loud parties.other friends lived in another complex off gorman and saw a simualar drug bust like the one mentioned above. also nobody has been brutally murdered in lake park.. yet

so i mean while it is bad you can't beat the price and u can expect alot of the bullshit in lake park to take place in almost any college apts.

that said i'm movin the fuck outta here in june

you can always find a party on the weekends there. We walked up to random peoples' apartments that were having parties once in a while there.....but it is a loud place ot live. But we had horrible neighboors that kept really crazy hours and blaired thier music all the time (like 4am on weekdays). Its not the best place to live and I sure as hell would not want my fiance to live their but its not all that bad. I guess it depends on what you are used to.

i just moved in here, and I must say that I like it so far. Place doesn't look the best on the outside (although it is growing on me), but the places are nice on the inside and it is quite a large apartment for the price

u-suites management sucks and they kill you on move-out fees

you have to pay to have the carpets cleaned regardless
and its almost inevitable that you have to do some painting before you leave
they charged us for new drip pans on the oven b/c ours were apparently dirty

In the 6 months that I lived there, my neighbors apt. was broken into and I had to call the cops to get some sketchy guy to stop beating his girlfriend in the stairway.

Lake Park (atleast the 4 BR part) WAS the shit back in 97-2002 and even later. I lived there 2002-2003, it was ok. I never had my appt or car broken into. I never felt unsafe there. Its it really that much worse now?

I agree with this, I was there about the same time for 2 years and loved it.

It has gotten worse though.
