Does anyone know where there are places to cliff dive in raleigh or somewhere close by?

if you go up over the dam at Falls Lake, to the end of the dam road and over the hill onto some cliffs, there is a nice inlet where you can jump off some rocks into decently deep water.

these rocks aren't high (maybe 6 feet), but it's still fun.

just check the water level first, because the 2nd time i went, we ended up having to carry a girl out who sprained her ankle

Falls lake you can definitely get a trespassing ticket there. I wouldn't recommend it.

there used to be a place around here called Sugar Lake. we used to go there when I was a kid. My dad would take up up there... anyways, it was an old quarry, and it has cliffs and they let people dive off of it... and drink beer... i don't know if it's still around or not. (i'm guessing it isn't, because i haven't heard anything about it in years)

i haven't been to that place though since i was like 10 years old. (1990)

they used to rent out inner tubes for people and everything there.

i figured out where sugar lake is... i google earthed it. it's in pittsboro, just past jordan lake. it is on the right.


who knows if it's still open though.

yea, we went to the rock quarry that the scuba class dives at and jumped a few times before the people working there came and made us leave. Atleast we didnt get the cops called on us. We are gonna try to find that sugar lake so ill let yall know if i can find any cliffs there

sugar lake is the rock quarry the scuba class uses. they told us that was its name when we were putting the dive in our log books.

I went to some place out at Falls a couple years ago with a friend who knew how to get there, so I don't really know exactly where it was, though I do know it was near the dam somewhere. We had to cut past a fence and through a church lot or something, and then through a hole in another fence...of course ignoring the warning signs.

There was a red rock cliff with a lower jump around 15 feet and a high jump around 25 feet (depending on the lake level, of course). It was relatively safe, though if you didn't jump out far enough you would definately scrape yourself up, or worse.

someone died there bc there is a sunk backhoe in the water. but it isnt where everyone jumps, it is in the inlet to the right. i have been to that place like twenty times, but got ticketed twice. it was well worth it though. the place is fucking sweet

yea the quarry in wendell in hs was good for some post-exam fun sophomore year. thinking about it now I'm pretty sure I'd never jump off a cliff again.
