So I went to the RBC center yesterday and was waiting in line for my pint glass and some woman behind me was bitching about standing in line and that the canes or whoever would be getting a letter of complaint about the inefficency of them giving out free stuff.

Holy Crap people are stupid

I got my glass and poster and was happy to stand in the heat to get them. How often does this happen?

I woulda been downtown but I gotta work

i agree its stupid to complain about getting free stuff, but only having one line to hand out 18,000 glasses isnt smart. they could have easily found a better way to distribute them.

this helps to deter people from going line-hopping for multiple cups

I got a pint glass and a poster today from an unnamed source.

As for Tverdovsky cutting you off, it's his own personal subsitute for the Termidor Tverdovsky Turnover of the Game.

It'll depend a whole lot on how many of our defensemen stay. Wesley and Hedican might retire, Wallin might go back to Sweden, etc.

Even though Tver isn't exactly a defensive stalwart, he is a body.

As expected, everyone was hurt:

Canes disclose injuries

J.P. Giglio, Staff Writer
RALEIGH - The clicking noise couldn't be a good sign, Bret Hedican surmised. Ditto for the bone crunch Kevyn Adams heard in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.

Winning the Cup temporarily eased the pain for injured Carolina Hurricanes players, but after 115 games -- exhibition opener through Game 7 -- it is time for recovery and, for some, surgery.

"Everybody has something wrong," said Adams, who broke his right wrist in Monday's game.

The good news is the Canes are the champs. The bad news is they have only about 2 1/2 months until training camp starts.

Canes trainer Pete Friesen said he would know more about the players' injuries after medical exams today, but, as of now, Hedican, Erik Cole and Andrew Hutchinson (hip) are the only ones who appear to require surgery.

Though the Hurricanes went to great lengths to conceal injuries during the playoffs for competitive reasons, they can come clean now that the games are over.

And there's a lot to come clean about.

Hedican tore the labrum in his right hip in Game 1 of the Cup finals. The defenseman played the final six games with the aid of cortisone and pain-relief shots.

"The hip was clicking pretty bad in the first game," Hedican said. "That doesn't make skating easy."

Surgery is next on Hedican's agenda, even before he makes plans for his day with the Stanley Cup.

Adams won't need surgery after breaking two bones on Monday. The Canes center took a Chris Pronger shot off his right wrist in the first five minutes of the first period against the Edmonton Oilers. He played the rest of the game after taking a pain-killing shot. He was fitted for a cast on Tuesday, which he'll wear for the next four to six weeks.

Playing through pain, Adams said, is a part of getting your name on the Cup.

"I don't feel comfortable talking about my injury because really there so many other guys who have gone through so much, it's really no big deal," Adams said.

Cole, who made a dramatic return in Game 6 after missing more than three months with a broken bone in his neck, needs surgery on his left elbow -- a chronic problem since 2002.

Justin Williams, who practiced sporadically during the playoffs, revealed that he tore a ligament in his left wrist on April 24, the second game of the playoffs.

Despite the injury, Williams didn't miss a game in the playoffs.

"It's taken a little longer than expected to heal," said Williams, who also tore an oblique (abdominal) muscle in the Edmonton series.

Defenseman Frank Kaberle, who scored the Cup-clinching goal, couldn't have played without a pre-game routine that included numbing his left hip with pain-killing shots.

"I don't know what [the shots] were," Kaberle said, "I just know I couldn't skate without them."

Even Doug Weight will avoid surgery. The center suffered a Grade 3 separation in his right shoulder. Weight said Grade 4 and above requires surgery; his injury just needs rest.

Weight skated before Game 7 but couldn't have played on Monday. That didn't prevent him from suiting up for the post-game celebration. Just to do that, he needed help.

In between the second and third periods, he got a cortisone shot so he would be able to lift the Cup over his head."

They've already cracked the Cup. Equipment manager dropped it in the locker room. Brindy, Staal, and Cam Ward were just on the NHL Awards. They interviewed Eric and Jordan Staal earlier, and brought up the possibility of the Jack Johnson trade.

Hockey players are pretty hardcore.

And I hope we don't trade for his brother. We're going to need Jack's defense in the very near future.

wow, the trolls can fucking suck it. anyone who says that other team's injuries helped us win the cup is official wrong. our injuries are clearly just as fucking bad, we just had players that were insane enough to play.

from the fake Onion article. Brother's Pizza has been out of existence for like what a year and a half? Melvin's now resides there. i just thought it was funny that they didn't know that it had closed up.
