wow, this is new!
teams who actually have good pitching dont collapse, your cards on the other hand, barring a big trade for a SP are looking at a squeak into the playoffs and a loss to the Dodgers.7/12/2006 10:44:59 AM |

^^They got Jeff Weaver, Im sure he's going to help.
The Cardinals are easily going to make the playoffs. That is why it is easy to pick them to go far. 7/12/2006 11:36:39 AM |

a lot of guys on detroit's pitching staff are having career years (Bonderman, Robertson). Verlander is doing way better than could have been expected for his second year. Miner has come out of nowhere. Rogers is holding up well for an old man. This team reminds me a LOT of the White Sox of last year because of the pitching.
The problem is that in September '05 they went on an inevitable slump--they were playing far above their talent for so long. The Tigers problem this year is that the Sox are only 2 GB, not the 17 GB that the Tribe spotted Chicago lost year.
Now tell me how the Tigers will continue to keep this up until October... 7/12/2006 11:49:18 AM |

I wouldn't say that. The White Sox had great pitching last year and they ALMOST collapsed all the way. Full credit to them for righting it come playoff time but it can happen. I'm still waiting to see how their youth responds to real pressure games..
