You must not watch EVERY OTHER FOOTBALL GAME.
it is the job of the linebackers to cover the RB, Unless a team knows for sure it will be a pass, there will be at least one LB covernig him.
That reverse was a a pretty neat trick play, I'll give them that, but those analysts are like "That wouldn't have worked with anyone besides Reggie Bush" and I'm like "um, didn't it work perfectly with Deshaun Foster the day before?"9/26/2006 11:12:40 AM |

The reason why I made this fuckin thread was because I, evidently, was one of the first people to scream this shit waaayyyy back in nov-2005. I made the thread shortly after the NC game (in january, before all the other fucking threads). The fuckin thread died b/c im not going to be talking about how he wasn't a good RB thru Bball season to now. So shut the fuck up about this being moved away! If you don't want to talk in it, then don't.
Bush fuckin sucks when he lines up in the backfield. Thats my point, ofcourse people respect his speed around the outsides b/c thats all he can do. He's not a pure Rb, wasnt then, isnt now. He is a helluva player/athlete with wicked speed. Thats all. He will not be a Gale Sayers, Barry Sanders at all in the NFL.

hahaha yeah, could you please point out ONE running back in the NFL that doesn't get covered? the defense has a job to cover the running back since he is one of the most dangerous offensive weapons on the opposing team, regardless of whether he is a top back or not... if he's in the NFL, he isn't gonna be left open on purpose! 9/26/2006 3:10:00 PM |

gotcha, another reason why I brought this thread up was because there were alot of people wrong back in my old thread. I just went back an actually read the shit they typed...
and everyone thought I was the crazy one?!?!?
If Bush were such a Rb, Mofo would have atleast scored the other night with those two attempts at the 2yd line. He looked like fucking shit running the ball. It was embarrassing, and I was one of the people rooting for him to go in so that he could get his first NFL td!
I just dont see him developing into this golden child running back everyone painted him out to be. 9/26/2006 3:27:13 PM |

wrong, double reverse and reverse (saints/panthers respectively) and I would argue that Bush's speed/ability makes this a viable play for the Saints.

He also leads the league in RB receiving yards, and is on pace to have over 1300 yards (rushing and receving) not including punt returns. I think most teams in the league would be happy with 1300+ out of a rookie, which is what he is so give him some time to develop.
To early to tell, but as far as rookie rb's go hes doing better then expected, compared to the hype, he would already have to have 1,000 yards this year in 3 games and that wasn't going to happen. Don't get down on a player just because the media decides to suck his nuts. players don't control their own hype, it's just the result of crappy tv and poor announcers who just talk about one player the whole time. 9/26/2006 3:33:41 PM |

Which is why in the other thread I said:

Are you telling me you think he would be wasted if he was used like Steve Smith?
He will be much more successful if they use him in that fashion, get the ball to him in space, and let him use his ability to avoid tackles to get yards.
Don't even bother with him in the backfield except on a few plays as a change of pace (around 6-10 carries per game)." |

Then you haven't watched a second of his play.
He's got defenders so worried about his abilities all he has to do is take ONE stutter step and people are falling all over the place with bones jutting out of their legs.
He doesn't even have to beat them because they beat themselves.
Many of them forget all about the help they have on the field.
I've seen plenty of evidence and I doubt I've even watched half of his carries.
There's no way any single person on this site can explain to me just how he "isn't cut out to be a pro running back."
I mean that just sounds retarded.
He has more than enough size, speed, agility, acceleration, vision, and hands to do anything the coaches need him to do.
And as he continues to take advantage of the professional-level weight training programs, he will become even stronger and will be absolutely complete.
He looks great for a rookie on a Super Bowl contending team, except he's playing on the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS.
I can't believe this is even a topic of discussion. Get a fucking clue. All of you.9/26/2006 10:10:34 PM |

can he beat them to the end zone? not yet, and he's been given ample opportunity to get both 2 yard scores and 72 yard scores.
He has the happy feet of a nervous quarterback, which is okay for a rookie, I guess - the problem is, nobody saw any of this at USC because there were plays when the OL had damn near everyone in the box either on their asses or hopelessly turned around.
He's Jerome Harrison with 49294398294x more hype, and the sad thing is that MOST Saints fans have bought into it. If he still has happy feet and edge-happy problems four years later, THEN there's a huge problem. 9/26/2006 10:39:57 PM |

This is stupid, just because they respect his open field ability dosnt make him a great RB. Just means he is a fast mofo. It takes more than that in the NFL. When I think of pro RB, I think of someone who isnt afraid to hit the damn hole (or create one if there isnt) has patience to watch the play develop, breaks tackles (multiple) has finesse and bruiser capability. Ricky Williams, Clinton P, Barry Sanders etc. Not some guy who just wants to be pretty, and turn around in the middle of the damn play before it even sets up.
Give him some punt returns or kick returns. Hell, let him keep some of the reverses for cryin out lound. He is a SPACE guy, everyone knows it. When they force him to run the ball (RB pos), its painful to my eyes. 9/26/2006 11:36:49 PM |

he's played THREE GAMES
good lord
the league's leader in rushing TDs has just THREE
its not like we're 10 games into the season and he only has one TD on 150 carries and a 2.5 ypc average
by your logic, are you saying Peyton Manning would make a better RB than reggie bush because he has run in for a score and Bush hasnt?
three games into the season you need to be defending your argument with discussion of his abilities, not his stats
Quote : | "He has the happy feet of a nervous quarterback" |
he's a RUNNING BACK
hes SUPPOSED to have happy feet
wtf...its not like he can just decide to stay in the pocket and throw the ball
what do you want him to do, teach his o-line how to block?
force opposing LBs to forget what gaps to cover?
draw up and call the plays himself?
did you see him hauling ass through the line like satan himself was chasing him on monday night?
and dont fucking tell me OMG I WANT HIM TO SCORE A BILLION TDS
come on man youve got to have something better than that
christ and then we have ^ this kid listing ricky williams and clinton portis amongst the all-time great backs....not to mention you seem to be suggesting that power is what makes a back truly great
if that was the case, christian okoye would be one of the greatest of all time
barry sanders speaks for himself and probably never knocked somebody on their ass in his entire life
he wasnt even close to the fastest guy in a straight line
it was his agility and vision that made him great, and bush has almost all of that plus ridiculous straight-line speed
NFL defenders respecting a rookie's ability is def a big deal, esp when you see the way they bite on every little twitch
and NO FUCKING SHIT it takes more than speed in the nfl...what the hell do you think im talking about here?
40yd dash times?
did you even read my post where i listed not one or two, but FIVE categories where he is more than capable to compete in the NFL, or did you just make it to the second sentence and hit Reply To Topic as fast as you could???
the only place he's lacking is strength....and nobody's ever entered the NFL and gotten stronger right?

So him catching a punt and doing the fucking Charleston with 8 yards of clear space in front of him is okay? (Green Bay game) Running STRAIGHT to the edge, gaining nine yards laterally and nine inches upfield is okay? (every game this season) Outrunning the setup of your blocks - and thus, being forced into a state of happy feet - is okay? (also every game this season) Opponents biting "on every little twitch" is worthless if in the end he doesn't go very far. Catching a screen pass and losing five yards instead of going down for one yard (either Dallas or Indy, preseason) is NOT okay, even if he made somebody fall on the play. It's like the opening to Fresh Prince, where he does all the fancy shit then clangs the shot. Two problems with this: One, it doesn't lead to much success in the NFL, and two, the Saints already have a Will Smith on the roster.
There's a difference between lateral quickness (oh hell, Ray Lewis), blazing straight-line speed (Michael Lewis), and Darren's Dance Grooves Class of 2003 graduate (Reggie Bush).
also, you apparently missed the whole ample opportunity bit I added in there. With all the touches he's gotten plus this seemingly peerless, amazing speed, you'd think he'd have scored one by now. I'm not even touching the rest of your post because it, like 98% of the hype surrounding him, is all grossly overstated hyperbole.

what does a punt return have to do with RB ability?
i dont even know wtf "the Charleston" is

every single occurrence in that post happens to every single runnnig back in every single game they play

how does that mean nothing?

again this happens constantly in the nfl
to WRs and RBs
saying "oh well he was once stopped on a couple plays" is ridiculous
i mean is your argument now "he cant get upfield and gain yardage or get sfirst downs?
whats his rank in total first downs nfl-wide?
you should check on that since stats are clearly so important here
here's a hint: his team is 10th in overall

once again your touchdowns argument is wrong
just plain wrong
ive proved it and youre still hanging onto it
why?
here's another gem: the league leader in rushing attempts is Minn's Chester Taylor with 75 (to Bush's 34....THIRTY FOUR FUCKING CARRIES)
how many TDs does ol Chester have?
just one
