I have a chance for some tickets in sec. 3 row F (6th row). I've heard different things about rows 1 - 15 are obstructed by the benches of the teams. Can anyone validate this? 10/10/2006 12:40:54 PM |

I've been there twice and must concur.... SHITTY STADIUM. The first time I went was a UVA vs. UMD game. I went in my State gear and my coworker went in her VT gear. We rooted against both teams! haha
The second time I went was 2 years ago when State played there. That was the most boring and miserable game I've ever seen... bout froze my ass off in the rain. 10/10/2006 2:26:56 PM |

rows 1-15 are so low that you can't really see whats going on. theres a reason why they are cheaper then other seats.
you are basically eye level with the players heads.

YES! You can not see from the lower rows. I am not sure where section 3 is in relation to the field, but along both sidelines, the teams, cameras, media, all kinds of things are in your way. The stadium is not elevated above the field at all. Sit higher up.
Yea, I hope it doesn't rain like 2 years ago when we were up there. It started the first quarter sunny and about 70. By the end of the first quarter it was dark.... at 4:00 in the afternoon, then the wind and rain made it misserable and FREEEZING! 10/10/2006 3:12:05 PM |

Byrd is going to get a $95M expansion sometime in the upcoming years.

By Rick Snider THE WASHINGTON TIMES
A $95 million expansion to 55-year-old Byrd Stadium that includes 10,000 seats, luxury boxes and naming rights to the field is among four planned sports projects being readied by Maryland officials. Terrapins athletic director Debbie Yow yesterday confirmed that proposals for Byrd's expansion, along with a possible relocation of the baseball stadium and upgrades to the soccer and lacrosse field and team house, will be submitted to university officials in coming months. The latter three projects could cost $25 million. Because athletic projects are privately funded, university approval is probable. Byrd's expansion could be completed by 2008. Gaining $15 million for naming rights for the football stadium's field is the linchpin toward expanding the 51,500-seat venue. Though the stadium's name for former university coach and president H.C. "Curly" Byrd would remain, finding an alumnus or corporation to fund the field's name follows a national trend. The name is subject to university approval. "There can't be an expansion of Byrd until we sell naming rights for the field," Yow said. "With the right corporation, it would work. I don't think [approval] is going to be an issue because [objections are] normally about state funding. This is privately funded. We're not going to usurp someone who needs an academic building." After two years of planning, Maryland is expected to unveil the new stadium plans in coming months. Depending on funding, the expansion could be downsized to $75 million. Tyser Tower would be replaced by 10,000 seats to offset the upper deck on the opposing side. The end zone will remain open should the stadium need further expansion. Coach Ralph Friedgen's goal is 80,000 seats. After selling out every game last season, the Terps now expect to do it again without individual game ticket sales. With an attractive home schedule of West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Virginia, plus Clemson and ACC newcomer Boston College, the Terps may eclipse last year's record of selling nearly 31,000 season tickets. its like the goofiest stadium you could ever go to, its like enourmous on one side and looks like a high school stadium on the other, and the endzone seats are like a mile from the end of the field. not much of a homefield adavantage, and not very loud. 10/11/2006 12:46:45 AM |
