man, I didn't even know about the whole cheating thing. He never told anybody and just kept it inside and started drinking. I haven't seen him in over a year so I didn't know how bad his drinking got. God I wish I could have known..

I found out last night through another friend. He told me the whole deal. I was just frozen like WTF?

That's a great conclusion to jump to. Active duty in Iraq is much different than active duty in say, Korea, where the lifestyle is a lot different.

Sorry man for your loss. I've been there, but you can't blame yourself. Everyone hopes that they could have done something differently, but whoever posted above that depressed people shut themselves off is true, so its kind of a downward spiral. Thinking about all of the 'should haves' or 'would haves' wont make it any easier, its best to try to help the family or daughter and try to do something positive to help out. Again, sorry for your loss.
