See, I'd prefer that Pizza Underground hadn't recorded anything and was just a touring comedy act.

I haven't listened to any of it. Way more intriguing as a live thing not having heard the songs.

I haven't listened to them either

but I'd rather spend money on them than a run-of-the-mill cover band

On Saturday I found out that it's $8 to see a cover band at Tir Na Nog.

this is why it seems dumb live. so they run through their 8 minute pizza medley. then what?

it will always blow, regardless of how many times they change the name

and I've seen two of the top ten shows I've ever seen there, but it still blew those nights

I'm interested in the fact that they moved CHVRCHES but not HAIM, even though HAIM sold out in like two hours.

my first show was at the ritz. saw the strokes there back in 2002 or something. jimmy fallon was one of the openers and basically played through that stupid record he put out around the same time. my friend and i got him to come out of his tour bus after the show and sign autographs though

is that platform they added in the middle of the room still there? i didn't think the room sucked so much as that thing just obstructed your view

My first club show SHOULD'VE been Foo Fighters at the Ritz, but my mom wouldn't let us go because one of her coworkers said "The Ritz isn't a place for a 14 year old."

So instead my first club show was Frank Black at the Cradle WITH MY MOM when I was 15.

You went to go see The Strokes at 16? I hate my life. They are #1 on my list of bands to see.

Weezer just announced a June 5th show at DPAC. Presale tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 10am.

I'll be there, but I think it's super lame it's a seated show and not at the PNC or some other place I could stand.

I've stood at every auditorium show I've ever attended

hell, it's usually encouraged by the band

and there's more of a chance of me being depressed at that show than happy

Yeah I mean I'm sure everyone will be standing, but I'm a wandering man mane. I like general admission/pits. I wish this show was at the Red Hat Amphitheater.

Why are you thinking you'll be depressed?

I was listening to Weezer on cassette tapes man.

But I haven't listened to their last several albums. Not sure if I'll be attending yet.

Ah okay, I found http://www.weezertix.com

I've never seen them, and doubt I'd have another good opportunity. I am skeptical of DPAC as a concert venue, but I'm rationalizing that it's better than never getting a chance to see them live in any capacity. Guess I'll find out in June if I still feel that way.

ok, granted. i guess i meant "any". when is the last time they've played around here, 2002? yeah i'd much rather have been at that one but i wasn't there. if it turns out they play a show at red hat within a year of this DPAC show, then i'll probably regret it. otherwise, i'm looking at it as maybe my only chance to ever see them live.

noticed both chvrches and future islands are playing coachella this year, pretty cool.

The last time I saw Weezer was at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, right after their Pinkerton album came out. I doubt any show they put on today is better than what I saw back then. So I'll be passing on Weezer at DPAC.

Bastille is coming to the Ritz May 15th. Any takers for that one?

It'll likely be the only Magnetic Fields gig of 2014. So there's that.

Conor Oberst closed the first night of Merge XX. WHOOPS.

it would be neat if arcade fire played as a sort of thank you show since it's my understanding they've outgrown merge. reflektor was apparently self released for the most part with merge's logo slapped on it

Reflektor went directly through a national distribution network instead of the normal Merge direct system. Not really different than any other drop ship operation. The number of copies of Reflektor that needed to be moved would fill the entire Merge warehouse.

If Arcade Fire was at the Merge festival, I'd eat my hat.

I can say that pretty confidently because it's laughable that it would happen.

You might have to eat your hat.

For Merge XX, the 3Ds flew in, Mag Fields came for their only gig in 18 months, and Spoon played a club entirely too small for them, among other things.

And Arcade Fire played the Carrboro Farmer's Market with the #1 record in the country.
