Can someone sum up this Teresa Earnhardt character, Jr's stepmother. Is she a trophy wife, or does she possess real business savy? Why didn't Jr. get ownership the day Sr. passed? I'm not exactly in tune with Nascar

Jr. is a public personality, not a NASCAR driver.

^^^^Basically she married Dale Sr. way back in the day, before he was huge, and after Lil' E was born. There was pretty much no prenump signed back then. Fast forward to 2001 and he dies and most of his estate goes to the step mom with Lil' E still doing ok, but not getting as much as she did.

haha, I fucking hate Nascar, but I love Lil' E. He keeps it real. I don't blame him for what he is doing, his step mom is trying to take away his name, and the stupid bitch doesnt realize that DEI will be nothing without an "E". He should fight for what he is deserves. All his fucking step mom has done is sit around and look hot. He and his dad are where its at. I honestly don't see how she isn't giving in because without her stepson, her company is shit.

Dale Sr.'s third wife. The niece of Tommy Houston, a longtime driver in the Busch series (in its early days). Not a trophy wife cause they were married before Dale Sr. was money. Married to Dale Sr. for a very long time. Supposedly she was partly behind Dale Sr.'s marketing muscle of himself. A lot of Dale Jr. fans don't like her for pretty much no reason.

As to my guess on why Dale Jr. didn't get the team when Dale Sr. died, I would suppose it was because Dale Sr. wanted to leave it to Teresa. Also, when Teresa passes on, it's not going to Dale Jr. alone. Supposedly it's going to Dale Jr., Kerry (Dale Sr.'s son by his first wife, a driver that gets Truck rides and occasional Busch and Cup rides in lower-tier efforts based on his last name), and Kelley (Dale Jr.'s sister and Dale Sr.'s daughter by his second wife). Kelley pretty much handles all of Dale Jr.'s PR.

Yes, she possesses business sense. If I remember correctly, she and Sr. started DEI together. With them being owners together, or her slightly less powerful than him. Then, when he passed away, she was the main shareholder, so she became owner instead of letting Jr. have it.

(Not like how DeLana Harvick owns Kevin Harvick's car, and he is her driver.)

NOW WHERE IS THE 2007 SEASON THREAD?! ITS TIME FOR ME TO COME BACK TO SPORTS TALK!!!!

That's pretty much the deal. Basically Teresa was just going to manage it until Dale Sr. & her were ready to retire, when it would go to Sr's children.

And for those who think Jr. is being selfish, I ask you how you feel in that situation. He wants to be his own man, but he's still working in his fathers shadows in his dad's company. He's also working for his stepmother, after losing his father. It may be like working for your dad's ex-wife. How many of you would like that? That's nothing to mention of the money that he's losing working for Teresa. Yes, he makes a ton of money with his ride, but he makes Teresa a lot more money. With his own team, or even going to RCR, he'd make alot more money.

I am a fan or Jr. & DEI, but I understand why there would be tensions b/w them. Jr. leaving wouldn't be the end of the world.

Jr seems more mature than he did after his dad died

not that he was immature back then, but he seems more humble now

Well, duh. The only reason any fan gives a s*** about Junior is cause of his dad, and that's the only reason he even got to NASCAR. Do you know that when he ran late models at Myrtle Beach, he won all of 3 out of 80 or so races? Good luck finding another racer in NASCAR that can claim such weak credentials and is still in the top circuit. He then ran Busch with the best-funded ride. When you're at the lower levels of competition, money is important cause it buys horsepower and a better crew chief that can make the car handle better.

When Earnhardt died, they had his son to cheer for. He's an okay driver, but I doubt he is talented enough to ever win a championship. I half-wonder if that's the reason NASCAR came up with this Chase thing, so to make it easier for their highlight driver to win it. He has a ton of money behind him because of his last name alone and because he's a pretty face for a sponsor. He will always be in his father's shadow for those reasons.

he caused a wreck last night, but owned up to it and said it was his fault. That shows, to me, that he has matured during the past few years.

unlike tony stewart who bump drafted in the turn (which is said last year was dangerous and "Five years from now, we're probably going to have to do another tribute to another driver because we're probably going to kill somebody,") and almost caused a wreck but said after the race that he didn't touch kyle busch. "But the only bad part about it is he's the guy that complained [last year] we were going to kill somebody out here."

Stewart is this era's version of Dale Earnhardt, as far as how he drives on a track.

^^ but dale didn't say one thing and do another. he'd say he was gonna wreck ya and then did. tony says we need to stop this or someone's going to get killed, then days later (last year's 500) he goes and wrecks newman, then this year almost wrecks kyle.

I didn't like dale for driving the way he did, but I respected him for living by his words. tony seems to forget what he said off the track whenever he's in the driver's seat. I was hoping gilliland would tap him late in the race last night, maybe not a wreck type of tap, but at least a wakeup call.

stewart bump drafted kyle bush on the straightaway--he did a fake out move that caused kyle to go up the track and then stewart gained position where kyle lost it. kyle was also on older tires

Jr bump drafted elliot sadler when he was still in the turn and admitted to it after the race--he thought sadler was on the straightaway but he thought wrong

are you saying that stewart did NOT touch busch in the turn and force him to slide sideways up the track, despite the fact that both drivers and tons of video show that they did touch?

fine...i didn't remember where they hit

but daytona's so big that it all looks like straightaway

but its not like stewart just ran right into him--kyle still came down the track and lost position by going up the track to block tony
