What does it take to grow those watermelons? Do they pretty much need full sunlight or could they survive in a yard with trees shading them part of the day?
Are they the big watermelons like you see in the store or those dark green basketball sized ones that most people homegrow? 3/18/2007 2:37:49 AM |
pwrstrkdf250 Suspended 60006 Posts user info edit post |

and the regular ones 3/18/2007 10:02:27 AM |

Can you grow brandywine tomatoes? I may also be asking for some eggplant and squash a little later...how long will you have them? 3/18/2007 1:51:37 PM |
pwrstrkdf250 Suspended 60006 Posts user info edit post |
I can grow those, I might pick up some seed as long as people will buy the plants
iirc brandywine is a heirloom variety and makes a nice big fruit
but there seems to be issues with it (late harvest, low yields, etc)
do you want the eggplant and squash plants or produce?
I will have most plants until I plant my garden or the garden center that is purchasing my plants buys them ( ~april 15th)

I want the plants, not produce. Didn't know brandywines had issues, I have always had good luck with them. I've gotten 4 pound tomatoes from them with my method. 3/19/2007 10:14:26 AM |

well, if people will buy the plants I'll grow some
whats your method?
thinning and leaving only chosen fruit?

that and (this is going to sound weird) but I use the dirt from my mom's house where she and my dad used to have chickens when they had their "mini-farm." The chicken manure (mixed with lots of dirt of course) makes the plants get a nice size and then produces huge fruit. 3/19/2007 10:27:18 AM |

^^ good idea
I use manure in my garden also since I have a readily available source for it at my farm
^ nah, no herbs, never had a lot of luck with them 3/19/2007 4:37:34 PM |

How many of those pepper plants do you have? (each type) I've been wanting to grow some peppers, but i really don't know how... what would I need to do? keep them outside or inside? how long until I would get any peppers from the pepper plants? 3/20/2007 3:46:26 PM |
pwrstrkdf250 Suspended 60006 Posts user info edit post |
^^^ ok
^^ yeah, they should be fine, I'm moving them in/out to establish them
^ I have plenty I'd grow at least two of every variety to insure proper pollination (don't plant sweet peppers next to hot peppers either
should start producing by summer 3/20/2007 5:08:12 PM |

Would it be possible to do one roma tomato (well, maybe two), one jalapeno and one zucchini? I don't have a lot of space and I'm the only one who eats vegetables, so I don't want to produce a ton of stuff ... plus zucchini plants are crazy. 3/27/2007 11:25:43 AM |
pwrstrkdf250 Suspended 60006 Posts user info edit post |
^^ yeah you can
^I'd recommend 2 peppers and maybe 2 zucchini to ensure pollination
well, you might be able to get by and pollinate from the male flowers to get it
not that big of a deal
