Because yall are a bunch of nerdy dudes out on your own, and such threads do get made

To start:
If you somehow end up with grease or another liquid lipid stain on clothing, get baby powder and a stiff brush. Before laundering, coat both sides of the stain with baby powder, let it absorb as much as possible, and brush off. Repeat until grease = gone.

If there's anything you don't want permanently on your clothes, don't launder it before trying to get it gone. Heat sets that shit.

Non-chlorine bleach only.

^Twills. The weave rises from left to right for a right-hand, and rises right to left for a left-hand.

The short answer: Prevention is key Use cascade, dish soap, cold water, and washcloth.

Long-answer, which I'll type later because folks always ask how to get blood out of such and such...I'll get to tomorrow probably

My favorite advice is to pre-treat your stains...don't just throw it in the washing machine.

also if you wash something and it comes out with the stain still on it...DO NOT dry it, it will set the stain, you need to pre-treat it again and then wash it again.

Also those tide to go sticks are awesome.

They're cotton, right?
Same as you do regular sheets: hot + bleach for whites; warm water for colors

You can't not shrink cotton if you're not willing to line-dry your clothes.
Again, dependent on color, and how often you're willing to replace things.

How do you clean pleather pants? I'm assuming actual leather is for the dry-clean. Also, how do I treat miscellaneous stains on polyester (WhisperSilk) sheets?

Hah, that'd be hard, seeing as how I haven't used them yet. But oh, it's possible that might happen in the future, yes, of course...

unless you want to get the pleather dry-cleaned, turn them inside out and febreeze them with the antimicrobial kind and let them hang for a few days. for spills, etc on the outside, just wipe with a damp cloth and air dry. machine washing will give really bad results, if you must wash the pants turn them inside out and gently hand wash them and airdry

^detergent with enzymes.

FWIW, I learned something tonight.

My folks do laundry at a laundromat. A pair of my mom's white work pants had had dye transfer stains (blue)that I thought was hopeless, but I gave it a shot anyways.

Yesterday I threw them into hot wash with detergent, softener, and a fucking shitton of bleach. Seriously, at least a cup or two. I figured while the pants would degrade some, it's better than not getting anymore use out of them

And I let it set until tonight. When I pulled them out of the wash, I actually had to call her and ask where the stains had been.

So, especially if the item is white, dye stains that have been put through the dryer can be removed. Especially if you don't mind smelling like a swimming pool

I have white pants that have a yellow stain on them ( no idea how it got there..... ) Anyway, if the stain has been there a long long time will bleach get it out?

What can I do?

depends on what the stain is.

if you can live without whatever elastic is present, throw a shitton of bleach in the wash, and let it sit in the washer for a day or two.

Its uh cotton I guess?

It's probably cat urine because I've found lots of stinky stains like that on random clothes.
