I would totally pay just to get in the air

I LOVE flying.

It doesn't look like it'd be too practical for our trips to chicago yet, but it looks like it'd be nice for spur-of-the-moment getaways, even factoring in the drive to GSO

Geez, this would have been nice a couple of years ago when I was always flying to Columbus.

It does look like I could go visit my dad in Vancouver for less than $100 though. Rock.

It looks like you have to connect through Ohio to go somewhere else. But the flight to Ohio is only $10.

I at those prices, I can deal with a segmented trip

I also would totally fly to vancouver just for the hell of it, and to see somewhere new.

I'm just not seeing on there where yet to build a multi-leg trip. All I'm getting is GSO to columbus and back

This is really making me want to visit a friend in San Francisco now. With the right dates it would cost $60 plus tax.

It's a tiny one. I used it a few times for international trips (study abroad) because it's less crowded and hectic than RDU.

Im still loading their "about" page

is their security as fucking de-humanizing as the big companies? the only reason i've not flown since 9/11 is I'm afraid of going to prison or getting shot if one of those monkies lays a hand on me or someone i'm with terrorists don't scare me though

You'll be alright, Grant. I've flown tons of times since 9/11.

Once I even had this tool that was for measuring the tension of elevator cables. It was essentially a metal box with a digital counter on the front of it inside a plastic impact case.

Looked like a prop from 24. The security guy looked at it, asked about it and let me go. Hardly seemed to care.

The only thing that is different is there is slightly more standing in line and holding your driver's license.

Yeah flying is no worse than before 9/11. Big changes are you are always taking your shoes off for some reason to get through security and they will actually make you take your belt off now if it sets off the metal detector. Other than that, the security really isn't that tough. I flew to CA 3 months after 9/11 and made it both ways carrying a knife on my key chain. They never took it or even questioned it.

As for Skybus though, seems like the dates are kind of slim pickings...

I lost a knife flying from Asheville to Milwaukee.

But if you get there early enough and forgot to leave something at home you can step out of line and mail it back to yourself with these envelopes.

I just didn't have the time.
The staff at the airport told me they don't even have the option of keeping the seized contraband for themselves. It goes into these big bags and gets shipped off. I bet there's a gov warehouse somewhere full of pocket knives, finger nail clippers and crochet needles.

I think instead of taking knives away from everyone, they should give everyone a knife as they get onto the plane. Probably would solve a lot of problems with unruly behavior if people knew everyone on board was packing.

Seems that way, doesn't it?

I'm so serious about just hauling off at $10 a leg just to be in the air. I don't care where we go...We'd fly, have fun, see a few sights, and come home.

That's so badass.

Haha - Passengers of size

That is insane!

And fucking sweet, I could hop on a plane here in Richmond ->$10-> Columbus, OH ->$75-> Los Angeles ->$10-> Columbus ->$10-> Richmond.

Wow. I dunno why Los Angeles but its pretty sweet.

Edit: Taxes and fees of $20.80 per ticket it seems, so +$41.60 to my imaginary bill

Evidently some all planes only go to Columbus, like the Richmond one.

Weird.

...for the dates you're searching.

Change the dates - the farther out the date is, the cheaper you can get your fares.

i just priced out a trip from RDU to Boston (at a time in the future when I will be going) and the more traditional airlines were $100.00 less.
